    None coming IMHO.

Just as Pochettino was part of a pre new WHL "perfect storm" that
saw the club on-pitch punch well above its financial power, now
new WHL + ENIC have brewed up a similar contrary storm that
is compounded by the Corona chaos and threatens to wreck everything.

I now believe that the only way for ENIC to prevent this is for
Uncle Joe to use his personal wealth to slash the new WHL debt,
and provide the financial impetus on pitch that a fully operational
    new WHL was intended for.

Again, it <steam> me that a man who made his pivotal wealth on
a colossal gamble (Black wednesday) is so seemingly risk averse
with his own money on this.

    I know.

In building the best stadium in the world and charging the highest prices to get in there, they ought to have understood, only too well, that serving up limited football, played by bargain basement players, whilst winning The Mickey Mouse cup once a decade, wasn't going to cut it.

Covid's not their fault...but exhausting Poch's talents, appointing Mourinho and joining a half-baked cabal of liars, cheats and ne'er do wells is.....and now they need to bloody well do something about it....other than bleat about it and boast about a wages to income ratio of 46%.

Setting us to attack over defend is the main one for me. Jose made some selection gaffs (Sissoko/ Lo Celso/ Lamela over Bale for instance) but in general his teams had enough firepower, he just chose to restrict it by making us play so deep or trying to defend a 1-0 lead with 80 minutes remaining. If Mason can ideally pick a side that doesn't contain the likes of Dier, Winks and Dele I'll be pretty happy for the most part but it looks like they'll be featuring prominently, unfortunately.

Be interesting to see what happens with Ndombele now though, benched for the final, benched yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a transfer request in the summer, he was close to more or less slapping in one last season I think. I said on this thread a couple days back that players like him and Lo Celso should be considered for transfers along with the obvious dross anyway as their sales will bring in more substantial fees that can be reinvested yet we won't feel a massive loss if they're gone. We can't expect to use funds from the likes of Sissoko, Dier or Lamela to help fund a move for a potential £30m+ player but we can likely do that with funds from Ndombele and/ or Lo Celso.

As for the next manager I share your concerns. I think I've said for the last two summers (and I'll probably end up saying it again in future ones) but this summer is so, so massive for him and us as a club. This time he's got to get the manager as well as the transfer business done right, both ins and outs, the last four or five years have been an utter sham and it needs rectifying.

I've not seen this level of animosity towards ENIC/ Levy before though, many neutrals or even pro-ENIC of the past are beginning to question their support for the board too and with the May 15th protest on the horizon it's only going to add to the pressure. I may head down there with a "Potter In!" banner <laugh>.

But we're supposed to hate Steve Hitchen because somebody who has a Twitter account says we should because of reasons...

Really don’t want Potter. He’s done well, but we need a bigger and better name (someone who was won trophies - but plays our style our football) if we truly want to compete for CL spaces.

To attract top talent we need a bigger and better.

No one would have mentioned Potter a year or two ago. It really is just flavour of the month.
    We’re better than this!

    Who would that be though?

There isn't really a list of top managers known for winning things and playing eye catching football that are available at the moment or that can be persuaded to leave their current club for us.

Sarri's probably the closest bet seeing as his Napoli side got high praise and he's won a couple trophies in recent years with Chelsea and Juve but not many seem keen on him. I wouldn't be disappointed with Sarri, it's just the idea of yet another ex-Chelsea manager taking over that'd slightly irk me.

There is undoubtedly a lack of options out there but surely for our club with our ambition we must look to prise a top manager away.

Can we really see Potter as a long term manager? It would be a total punt (but I guess anyone is and with the current squad would need time regardless to achieve anything of note).

Not keen on Sarri but would much rather him due to his pedigree and approach.

I mentioned it before but Gallardo although only managed in Argentina has won numerous trophies whilst losing his best players time and time again. But it’s his style of play, approach, motivational skills. It really does fit. Genuinely think he could be what we need and if we don’t get him he will be at a top top club in Europe in the next season or two.

Also, would take Nuno over Potter. Surely, he would come too.

Gallardo isn’t really gonna happen I’d say. South American managers don’t often come straight to England with no prior experience managing in Europe. I wouldn’t be against him but I’m pretty certain he’ll likely go to Spain first if he ever takes up a European job.

No way would I take Nuno over Potter though. Wolves are absolutely dire to watch and he hasn’t pulled up any trees there. He’s been backed quite heavily over the years, used Mendes to get numerous deals done and finished more or less where Wolves should be expected to finish based on their stature and backing. At the very least Potter plays a brand of football most of us would enjoy, don’t think many would enjoy Nuno’s stuff.

We're supposed to hate Hitchen because he came across in the documentary as having about as much enthusiasm for Spurs as Martin Keown does.

I think Nuno has had a lot of investment and the last two seasons finishing seventh both times was a great achievement even taking that into account. But yep, awful this year.

If not Gallardo, wouldn’t mind Gasperini for his style of play (although not a young un).

Why is ten Hag on the list?
He has recently signed a new contract with Ajax and van der Sar say's no way they will let him leave.

I don’t think it’s that great of an achievement because they spent a lot to get there and primarily on half the Portugal national team. I could be wrong here but I’m sure I read somewhere that since Wolves came up under Nuno they’ve had a higher net spend than about 14 or 15 other clubs.

Unsure on Gasperini, not young as you say though he’s done really well with Atalanta. But then he’s not someone that’s won trophies and if you look at his past prior to Atalanta, he’s not done that great.

    Hmm dire market.

Maybe in the summer, some hiring and firing and new names emerge. Hopefully not Southgate.

    Pleeeeeease, not another Portuguese manager.

Rather than personalities, I'm more interested in suitability in certain key characteristics:

    Can he speak English?
Has he got experience of playing or managing in English football?
Has he got the ability and desire to improve players rather than just replace them?
Is he going to need a continually large transfer budget to improve the squad?
Is the football going to be any good to watch?
Is he going to be more than a short term appointment?
Is he going to fall out with players he might not have signed or who struggle for form?
Is he likely to leave the club in a better position than when he joined?
Has he got experience of CL or EL?
Will we be able to sack him if it goes tits up after little more than a year?

There will be others...but if Levy had asked these questions about Mourinho, rather than being charmed by his bullshit, we'd not be trailing West Ham.

Mourinho was just so so wrong and quite obvious to most!

Don’t think there is anyone that comes to mind to pass all of that criteria apart from Rodgers!

If Southampton hadn’t gone on a bad run we’d all be talking about Ralph now instead of Potter. It really is as shallow as that I think.

**** it. Let’s get Ledley and Mason. Good as anyone and know the club inside out.
