Ok it's that getting to that time of the season for reflection on which has been a season of two halves.
Who do you think has been Saints best and most consistant performer this season.

I've chosen the ten (poll limit) on the basis of most appearances, feel free to add any other choice by posting the name.

I went for KWP on the grounds that we always lose when he isn't playing.

    I know, I know...

Vestergaard up to the point he got injured.

Armstrong for the entire season to date. And hence he trumps Vestergaard.

Stu for me. Fabulous player and has been more consistent across the season. I wouldn't be upset if either of the WPs one it though.

KWP for me. Armstrong an extremely close second.

Can't choose between them to be honest. Gonna go with Armstrong on account that he deserves recognition for previous seasons' performances. Plus the hair.

Toss up between JWP, KWP & Armstrong.

Had to go with JWP as he is the captain and not missed a minute of football.

For me this is JWP without hesitation. I would have Armstrong as second place as he is inspirational at times. But JWP has worked his arse off all year and what about those freekicks?

Hard to choose between JWP and Stuey, but I’m more entertained by attacking play than hard work so Stuey gets it for me

Mrs S uses my login so she won’t get a vote but I’m pretty sure she’d have gone with Prowsey

There are only 4 choices really I think. Vestergaard, Armstrong, JWP and KWP. Vestergaard pre-injury was immense at both ends of the pitch. But since his return from injury, he's not been at that level. Armstrong is consistently the player that makes us tick as an attacking team, but he does still have off games and can go missing. JWP...to play every minute of every game is an achievement in a normal season, to do it during this compressed season with lack of recovery, etc etc is super human. I do think his performances and energy has suffered a bit in this second part of the season though. KWP was putting in MOTM performances game after game in the first half of the season but again since his injury he hasn't quite hit those heights and has thrown in the odd poor performance that didn't look like ever coming before.

Tough one. I genuinely don't know who I would pick.

I do think that Oriol deserves a mention, he has made JWP a better player which I think Ralph mentioned the other day.

Good point. I hang my head in shame because I love Oriol and forgot he deserves an honourable mention for his first half of the season form. He was consistently a beast in midfield before his injury :(

Well it’s obviously Armstrong, can’t see who else has been as consistent as him throughout the season.

If we’re honest they shouldn’t give it to anyone as the second half of the season has been so bad though.

That's the key point, every game and the one player who most managers would be concerned about when talking defensive tactics to his team. He's a real threat with his hallmark free kicks. Other players have made great contributions but not for every single game, however unfortunate their injury situation may have turned out.
