I think that yesterday's result was probably more significant than any other this season. Going down to ten men had ominous portents of the 9-0 thrashing but this time it appears to have galvanised the team. On the face of it a home draw might be seen as a disappointment but Leicester have been one of the best teams this season and I just feel that securing this one point is as important as a win. Fulham have to secure ten points out of a possible fifteen. If they lose to Chelsea this weekend, it is ten points from twelve. Had Saints lost yesterday and picked up nothing in the remaining fixtures, a 9 point gap and better goal difference was achievable if very difficult for Fulham. Bridging this gap is no longer possible, Premiership football for Saints next season. Someone tell the ticket office to ping across my season ticket for 21/22!!
Still can't get over that red card. Never mind the clear and obvious debate it wasn't even a foul ffs. Hopefully it's overturned. If so then I'd make that 4 overturned reds this season, anyone know how many there were in the last season without VAR? Asking for a friend
Oh bugger off, the lot of you. I bloody hate this team. They absolutely do my head in. Just decided that feigned indifference was the only way to survive the rest of the season and then on to supporting Wrexham next year when they come up with this performance. Bastards. Just keep re-igniting hope. I've been drawn in by hope so many times over the years and they've done it again. Liverpool at Anfield next? Bring it on. Oh God, I can't believe I said that.
Highlights from OS, Dave thought it was a foul, Adam says no eventually: https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/...hampton-leicester-city-premier-league-2020-21
Jack did really well and was a steady and calm influence. Pleased he was there so Sally could play in his rightful position
What’s happened here is a group who feel under fire have been given a tool to publicly support or criticise their own and have taken the understandable decision to use it to support each other. You can’t have refs auditing each other in public and real time and expect it to work I don’t see how you can fix it
Not for the first time, I’m left wondering if Merrington actually has any clue about football, or if it’s all dropped out of his head and stayed in the 1990s.
Yep, spot on. The officials in the VAR room will always support the officials on the pitch; which is understandable, but not helpful. Bin it off now, because as you say, it can't be fixed. We'll all have to accept though, that refs do make mistakes. And Vardy can **** right off too, along with Var (see what I did there?)
I mean, I’m no fan of Vardy, but all those slagging him, have you never seen Djenepo playing for us? He goes down like he’s been f*cking shot in the head, four or five times a game. The ref is a ****er, and VAR is crap, but let’s not pretend half our players wouldn’t have done what Vardy did.
Sounds like I missed a good one, only seen the red card from the game. Don’t really get the Vardy criticism, definitely gets caught on the ankle and that’s enough reason to roll around for 99% of players. What was the rest of the game like? Spoke to my old man who said Redmond and Minamino were both ****, defence played well and that was about it
Can't really criticise any individuals in a match where the team gets a point after going down to ten men after 10 minutes. It was just a solid and disciplined hard working performance with not much opportunity for the forwards to shine but they all put in a strong shift.
My dad makes me look like the most optimistic fan about so I take his views with a pinch of salt. He hates most of our players and really doesn’t rate Minamino so I’m sure that he wasn’t as bad as he is making out.
