Not easy, but he managed it.
It was more supine than prone anyway.

I dunno mate, but it is rather pleasant that they have not bothered for once as the games normally don't live up to it.

Just can't call it any other way. Nothing to do with jinxes and charms or anything, just cold hard facts - we are total sponk in attack, midfield and defence, and even our goalie has gone iffy. And on the bench we have, er, er, ..... nothing. But Virgil is running again, albeit no quicker than Tommy Smith used to. :embarrassed:

We have had a full weak to get our arses lubed. Utd played all their best players last night.

Really there is no excuse here.

My view is unchanged. Mane wouldn't get near that pitch, milner must play, and we need to stop heading the ball into the middle of the park. really most of the issues we are seeing are rank basic errors that a manger ought o not be allowing or tolerating.

If we simply parked two lines of 4 and hoofed it at salah and jota we would be better off than what we are at lately.

I am sad as the last 4 points were handily takeable but thrown away by both inept forwards and rank defending. Most of all nobody wants to control the ball and make things happen.

I cannot wait to see the back of wijnaldum as well btw but for this game is crab sideways retain the ball shuffling will be valuable (until utd score)

If we play Milner, Windy and Thiago again in midfield we are ****ed, especially if we leave them all on for the second half too as we did against Leeds. It was like a veterans' parade. Simply must find a way of playing Fab in midfield, and Shaqiri in attack from the start (not in midfield). Must go 4-2-3-1, imo. That would better accommodate Shaq. But it's shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic, imo.

Yup all of the above really.

Front 3 not working hard. Jota helps but only a bit. Milner works harder than the lad already in barca. Salah just wants to whinge and throw his arms but has 20 goals. If Phillips is fit you have to start him. Fabinho has frankly been **** at cb anyway. Running about out of position of getting ran past easy.

    A 442 for me.

I am thinking something like this.

    Trent Phillips kabak Robertson
    Fabinho thiago
    Shaqiri milner
    Salah Jota

Play narrow in midfield and crowd it, don't let utd stretch the play.

Id love to know how you expect to play narrow but not let the opposition stretch play? Their full backs will have all the time in the world on the switch if you’re playing with 4 CMs

The utd team stretch play vertically using rashford and if fit martial to run and play it to them.

We can't defend high and play offside and can't press so I want us to occupy the centre of the pitch and try compress the play.

As everyone is so depressingly downbeat, can I propose that we don’t score the first goal even if presented it on a plate unless it’s in the last 5 minutes? At least that way we could get away with a scoreless draw. Scoring the first goal especially in the first half will get them angry and they will come out in the 2nd half and score a hatful as they throw all caution to the wind <doh>

This place is so damn negative :(

Sadly (from my point of view) i think you will win this one for a couple of reasons, first because of the rivalry and second because you have the players to do it who may just need the motivation of that rivalry.

I think we will win because we need a win more than you. Also your team has tended to do relatively poorly after a good performance and when expectations are high.
