We've got young players who can develop up to championship standard, maybe better. I think we need 2 or 3 experienced, battle-hardened bods on the pitch to help them do that.
Fair comment. Without wanting to dilute the success of this season it’s yet to be seen if the entire current crop of players are capable of making the step up to the Championship football. Whilst where on the subject of players how far will the clubs owners back the manager by allowing further players of the quality needed to boost the squad? Expectations will once again be high and some will probably demand further success.
Yeah but Sunderland said George Honeyman was ****, other clubs tend to play down departing players. He’s played in the Championship most of his career, pretty sure he’s good enough. And even then, given the emergence of Jones he will no doubt be cover.
Docherty wasn't, at the start of the season, he certainly is now. It's fine to sign League 1 players and bring them along, in League 1. It's another thing to drop them into the Championship and try to do the same (Wilks being a good example).
And I remember the Delaney is a donkey remarks from our own fans too., Had a nose to nose with one City fan who was shouting that Ben Burgess was a donkey during a game v Mansfield.. Will never forget the tosser in E6 who ran to the front of the stand before a game in the PL and shouted 'Huddlestone, your ****ing ****' The look on Toms face said it all.
But then how do players ever progress at a higher level? If that was the case, then every player would just stay at the same level and never go any higher?
Any decent supporter tries not to abuse their own players , especially when a match is being played . It can be very frustrating being a City fan , but abusing a player during a match is not me.
There is a player that has gone through all the leagues, was probably told he wasn’t good enough in most of them but didn’t stop him from banging the goals in in the premier league.., Jamey Vardy take a bow!!!
We were a point off the play offs halfway through the season with those players. Can't ignore half the season's results just because of the way it finished, with a lot of context around it beyond just 'the players weren't good enough'.
Come on Chazz, for a lad who's arrival to league football was quite late coming for tuppence from Sheffield FC he did alright for himself and scored for Hull City in every division. Not many can say that.
Ye he was ok But we should look higher Posters celebrate lower league tigers as tho they were world beaters Our best players in our history are the Huddlestones Livermore’s Elmo robbo etc
We paid £15k for France, which was quite a lot for a non-league player back then. He's one of the gang of four who played for us in all four divisions, so there's always going to be a bit of affection for him.
