The former Leicester manager was appointed until the end of the season in February and has agreed an extension at the Championship club. Pearson guided Leicester to the Premier League in 2014 and is understood to be excited by the project and the potential of Bristol City, who have not played in the top flight since 1980. The 57-year-old flew to Guernsey last week to meet City’s owner, Steve Lansdown, and has since held productive talks with the chairman, Jon Lansdown. The club hope the permanent arrangement will bring much-needed stability. https://amp.theguardian.com/footbal...=Share_iOSApp_Other&__twitter_impression=true
Well if true it's good news, just for stability if nothing else. I hope he is able to build what he requires and progresses us forward. He's now had some time to weigh up how the club works, operates and it's expectations....IMO that's an advantage going forward into next season...his concentration will be to motivate the players that stay and improve vastly in the transfer window to key positions. detecting why our players seem to suffer more through injuries than most .....to enable the team to gel...(which IMO has been one of our major problems) With his experience, knowledge & pulling power for players......we should have no problems......
I hope it's true but I will wait for official confirmation, interesting the coaches are to remain. please log in to view this image
Bristol City agree new three-year deal with Nigel Pearson to settle long-term manager plans Robins on the cusp of formally announcing the new arrangement that finally gives stability to the club. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/bristol-city-agree-new-three-5353531
Top manager -he wants the job let the rebuild begin. The best news to come out of Ashton Gate this year. Congratulations gaffer thank you Mr L.
Good news for me and although his initial involvement with the squad has not quite been what we would have wished for I expect his longer term stay will ultimately be successful. The mess he inherited requires a complete overhaul to fix and I would expect him to clear out the dross before bringing in the type of players that may actually have ability and ethics to move us to a better place. Welcome aboard Nigel and all true City supporters will back you in your quest because all we want is for our team to be competitive and fun to watch. Good luck.
Why? He will have the advantage of time from now until August to get it sorted.....That was never the challenge or the aim for the other two managers.....it was to progress and get into at least the playoffs...hence why LJ was fired. With experience, expertise & knowledge there should be no excuses..
This is good news. Hopefully NP has insisted on a budget being available as part of the deal. I suspect so - and bring in his own support and coaching staff too.
The cupboard is bare. The financial climate within football has changed since Johnson could scatter gun spend. Imo Pearson will need all the luck in the world, and money, to avoid a relegation battle next season.
A lot will depend on how many of the injured players are fit and ready for next season. If they are all fit then a few quality additions should make us ok for mid table. If not I agree we’ll struggle.
For every club, not just Bristol City.....probably as a level playing field of when LJ was in charge... You've excused him before he starts....which is more than I can say you gave a few years ago!! NB. LJ left with transfers finances about even..no scatter gun and easily avoided relegation with what he had left ....lets see if that's repeated!!
I don’t think an experienced and respected manager like Nigel Pearson would agree to accept a position which carries a higher than normal risk of adding a relegation from the Championship to his CV.
Almost certainly had assurances from Mr L and Mr L did say there would be major funds available to the new manager.
Just look at the total massive clearout so far ~ Mark Ashton - CEO Luke Werhun - Head of Football Operations Andrew Rolls - Head of Performance Lee Johnson - Head Coach Dean Holden - Head/Assistant Coach Steve McAlister - Assistant Coach The whole cabal gone and there may be more to come, Steve Lansdown has some work to do but with Nigel Pearson at the helm( possibly) it's a great start.
Great news if true. Finally a decision made with wisdom that didn't take 2 months to reach. I hope he is given the authority to kick all of the waster players out of the club as soon as the season ends/their contracts end, and start a proper rebuild with a blank canvas, and with players he either knows, or who can do the job, and that he gets some decent financial backing to make some progress.
I'd like to see some of the medical team and training staff in this list - our injury situation has been utterly disgraceful.
