A few weeks back he was the bee's-knees when he got us close on the top 2. The players have bottled it and shown they're not up to it. Come the Summer a lot won't be around. LJ will.
Think he is having some fun with a pun Nacho, that is a bloody good team you've picked, far better than anything Magic Jonno has managed , but I dont think we will see it , we have far too many well trained desk operatives in charge ticking spreadsheets to allow it to happen.
there is a bright side, there may be only two games left... from reading up it seems i am not the only one not happy with that formation but to be honest we just do not have a midfield, originally parky tried power and dobson, then stuck with them despite every man and his dog being able to see it was not working. i am of the opinion you need that 'motor' in the middle of the pitch but lately we seem content to hoof it up and hope we win the second ball, yet on the odd occasion we have passed the ball around teams struggle to live with us, i tried to keep positive during the unbeaten run even though our performances were well below scratch, i looked for little improvements (and could see them) so i was waiting for it all to 'come together' when we finally hit the home straight...yet tonight i sat here watching a team and could not make out who was meant to be where and what they were meant to be doing, onien on the right with bailey on the left, then there is onien on the left with bailey in the middle, then both of them chasing the same player on the left and no fecker on the right, next thing i notice is onien 3/4 of the way up the pitch. leadbitter and scowen, is one meant to be a holding midfielder and the other the 'ball winner and creator' because if so i think they got the orders mixed up as well, topped off with what appeared to be four wingers in hume, gooch, power and geads plus two lads up front with no pace who get fouled/fall over a lot...maybe i just looked at the whole thing wrong but there was not a thing that seemed 'joined' across the pitch, hit, hope and run appeared to be the 'plan'.
Can't wait to get back to the SoL and cheer the lads on. They need us now more than ever. KTF. (Titanium hat on) Loads to be positive about looking at the bigger picture for the club. This season was a long shot given the start under Parky. Johnson did well to get as close as he has done to the automatics imo.
I hope when they get rid of them they do it one at a time on different days so I can savour the moment with a glass of malt and a f ucking huge smile on my face.
Potential has to be realised in order to be worth anything. As it stands we have a manager who has more faith in out of form players, including those playing out of position, than in-form u23's. If we don’t get promoted this season with more subs and a larger subs bench then I fear for us next year, especially with whatever ****housery the EFL will impose on this league for next season. They tried wage capping this year, perhaps they will try it again - properly negotiated, or will they enforce smaller squad sizes?
To be fair it is true that starting a player who I've never seen play and know nothing about other than he's built like a rugby player is a bit bonkers, but in a back three alongside the experience of Wright he probably wouldn't be a disaster. Couldn't get away with it in a decent league but league one attackers are ****e 90% of the time. I just hope Johnson is going to think outside the box for the next game because if we don't turn it around we'll be going into the playoffs (hopefully) with the worst form in the league.
Considering our plan is to build our squad by bringing the youth through, Lee Johnson shows a marked reluctance to give youth a chance
But without potential you have nothing at all. As I've mentioned in numerous previous posts, I firmly believe that the fact that they u23s are not making their way into the first team is because they are not yet ready or not good enough. There is a big difference between age-group football and League 1. I see absolutely no reason to fear next season. In fact, I think not being promoted may well put us in a stronger position next season.
Thinking of doing a poll on what is the reason behind this catastrophic slip in form. Poor performances now yielding poor results LJ disappeared up his own arsehole Squad had too many deficiencies
The reason I would put him forward is that he has played along side Younger in the U23,s and along with Patterson in goal they have withstood some right batterings from rampant premiership U23 squads with players like Elder Costa in them, every bit as good as who we face in this league, the gap is not as big as some would have us believe, I suggested this ploy for the Wembley game as we were short of numbers then, not because I did not care about the cup, I did, but because it would have been the perfect opportunity to see if they could make the step up without damaging our promotion prospects, now we have the worst crisis of the season at just the wrong time, and its thanks to the lack of foresight at the top, the head coach picks the team and he has been diabolical imo. He is of course better than Parky anybody would be, but good enough to take us further, I am not sure, and would not like to be in KLD's shoes at the moment tbh.
I know what you're saying mate, but we and most importantly the players need to believe that they can turn this around. What is worrying is that we have faced Blackpool twice, had the lions share of possession in both, had more shots on goal and on target, but come away with nothing.
Plymouth have only got 4 points from their last 6 games, so they are hardly in great form. Got humped 6-0 at home by Charlton. Must win that game. If need be, fly the ****ers there, like we did against Pompey. They put on their best performance, when we did that.
That can't possibly be true. With the numbers we have out of contract this summer we have a great opportunity to bring in a strong core of solid championship players. If we don’t go up then we have to try and tempt championship level and good L1 players to come here. Player prices are likely to be lower and competition for signings is likely to be reduced this summer due to the impact of covid on clubs finances. To adapt a management adage, going up this season is likely to be a promotion of maximum opportunity!
