Sporting Life report Hughes has given up his license: http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/...ME=racing/11/10/13/manual_204553.html&BID=465
Christ this isn't just like a claimer chucking his toys out of the pram ....................... man Richard Hughes. Gotta say I admire his stance - whether you agree with the new rules or not it's clear there has not been sufficient consultation with the jockeys
I have just read that on the racing post! His 2nd ban in 4 days! lol Not only that Willian Buick has also picked up a ban after he said he would rather finish 2nd than pick up a ban!
****ing hell, give that man a standing ovation. You need the top jockeys to take a stand. No offence to the lower tier guys but it's only the high profile jockeys that can make a difference in this fight.
He isn't making a stand, he is standing down because he has been banned from the Breeders Cup. Instead of throwing his toys out he should be talking to the BHA as they have been asked to do. Pathetic by Hughes, type of response you would expect from a professional footballer. He has done wrong and whilst you may think the ban is too long he knew the rules.
I agree Nass- not matter what anythinks of the rules- He knew them! and should have stuck to them!! He knew the consequences! Once you can forgive but twice in 4 days! Not good enough!
linden I was back in England last week and saw you on the telly - buggered if I can remember what it was though. Looking good my man, looking good
Can't agree with any of this lads. I he was a serial offender under the previous rules then I could understand your opinions but this guy had something like a single day ban in the last 18 months under the old rules but then gets two bans in the space of 4 days under the new rules. The BHA have already indicated they feel they've made a mistake in the severity of these bans by announcing a review.
Its the same for all jockeys though, he knows the rules and didn't stick to them. To do it again tonight was just plain stupid.
