Not really. It was criminal what happened last season. Players of course take some blame, but responsibility rested at the feet of Enob and McCann. Fair play, they've got us back at the first time of asking ..... no mean feat. We're actually now well positioned to build on this promotion. Not burdened with big legacy wages, some very good developing players, confidence & momentum restored, etc For some reason though, I don't feel confident that we will push on with the Allams still as owners, and McCann as manager. TWT.
Agreed. Credit to McCann for getting us back to the Championship. But if I had the option of someone like Warnock as manager next season or McCann, I'd take Warnock. We need (or rather, Ehab needs) to invest in the Championship if we are to compete. We have quite a few players who I think are Championship quality but I have my doubts about whether some of them can step up. I think the young lads like KLP, Wilks and Greaves will need to up their game next season and iron out the flaws. Docherty is a Championship player already; quite shocked we managed to get him in the first place. Burke can obviously play at Championship level as well. Honeyman has been great this season but I'm not certain he will be as good in the Championship. I feel the same about Elder and Coyle. We definitely need a centre-forward. I don't see Eaves fitting in at all next season and Magennis is 31. It's a shame James Scott didn't get enough game time this season. Can see him going out on loan next season.
Are the fans going to invest in the team/club? I think a big up take in season passes will help the club and owners. And as I’ve said previously the club really need kids for a quid and special family passes Could have the whole west upper full of kids
How many managers who are bottom of the League , a match from relegation , lose 8 nil with his team just giving in do not get sacked or as he should have done resigned . Grant you were very lucky to be our manager 2020/21 , but well done coaching us to promotion .
Incredible how many look backwards. Incredible how many don't believe someone can learn and get better.....
Next season will I feel be decided by who we bring in, yes we are a young team and the chance's are we will get better, but the championship is a different world from league one the skill level is much higher and we need to get it right in terms of who we bring in, so as to avoid a return to league one.
No doubt there'll be some waiting to vent, if Grant doesn't win the title now. Top scorers, promoted two games before end, bringing (local) youngsters through, etc etc We were all surprised when Allam didn't let Grant go, because "that's what you do".... But he didn't and I couldn't imagine a better response. Onwards....
so far all he's done is wipe the slate clean - last season was an almighty **** up and this season has been an almighty effort to get us back up - he now needs to prepare for next season - hopefully he's learnt a great deal from his two seasons with us although rigidly sticking to the same tactic even in those games when it clearly wasn't working needs to be addressed - however, he's earnt the right to manage next season - he needs to rebuild again because undoubtedly a number will go and certainly a few need to go - we need more Docherty types and less Maddison types - so far I haven't seen much coaching going on because players such as Greaves and Wilks who are both good prospects continue to make the same mistakes week in week out and we really need to stop ****ing about at the back bringing pressure on ourselves - however he's done a tremendous job getting us promoted - we can only hope he continues the progress he's made this season - I certainly haven't warmed to him after the absolute shambles last season, I would have definitely sacked him last season and we'll never know what a new manager would have done - however a new manager couldn't have done any better than get us promoted irrespective of which ever players he brought in - so well done to all concerned with the club - it was great to see such team spirit from players at the end of the match - lets hope we can all go to the games next season and support them properly, some players will have never heard the city faithful sing 'you're being mauled by the Tigers' - lets hope they give us the opportunity
A new manager could only achieve what Grant has. Agree, slate is wiped clean, but every error is going to be met by some with, "should have been sacked".... Focus now is on the level of investment for next season. A few won't make the grade, and will/should exit left.
Firstly its a monumental effort to get promoted after the sh1t shower of last season and well done to all involved. Am I confident that Grant McCann will be the man to take us onwards and upwards? Afraid not, but he deserves the chance to try given his and the teams achievement this season. My fear is that coaches and managers adapt to games .. change tactics etc where needed. I'll be honest I haven't seen a great deal of that this season and at times he has been found wanting, but he is a young manager, he may have learned his lessons, he may realise one plan does't fit all, all we can do is hope. But I repeat he has earned his chance.
I think it’s a bit of a “who will blink first” situation, one will wait to see what the other one does first. However covid might work in ehabs favour, there will be a percentage of people who will return just because they can
Bang on that... I've said for eons done on a rota with schools... parent /teacher supervision, minimal stewarding (cost).... build you next KLP, Greaves, Fleming, Coyle base...
