Peterborough, used to go there with work a fair bit before the virus. pretty miserable centre but nene park, and other areas out near alwalton quite nice though
As a retired steel-worker, and one who has spent a bit of time in Port Talbot over the years I gotta say I've had some great nights with some sound guys in Morfa - it's a bit rough and ready but, I've been to worse places.
I had a job interview in Edmonton in North London after college. Most depressing place I've been. Got a job in Liverpool instead.
Stoke's a bit grim. Used to visit there once or twice a year to see my dad's side of the family. Luton, however, takes the biscuit. The Russians and Chinese could fire ICBMs at the UK tomorrow, and the before and after satellite images of Luton would be the same.

I've been to Dundee a few times Really liked it. Nice waterfront. I've been there with others and had decent food and a good night out, and I've been on my own and found pubs very welcoming with nice chatty people. Reminded me of Hull actually. Seafaring industry all but gone, so reinvented itself as a cultural centre.
Yeah I've had a good night in Swansea And next day drinks in the Mumbles which was very pleasant Better than Cardiff
Had a night out in Newport once. After a City game. That's also in the rough around the edges but a great night out category. Must be a Welsh thing. By the way, do you remember that Newport County always used to kick off on a Saturday at 3.15? Always thought that was a bit weird. Until we tried to walk to the ground, aiming for a set of floodlights, only to find ourselves in the middle of an industrial estate. Sort directions from a local Taff and ended up having to wait to get on one of those transporter bridge things. Arrived at the ground just in time for kick off. Quarter past three. Late start makes sense.
I used to live in Luton in the early 80s - had an evening job in an Irish Republican pub called The Compasses - it's closed now - right place. the customers were always arguing about the police and the army - every time it started getting out of hand the Landlord would hit the bar with a huge bat and tell them all to shut the **** up at the top of his voice, all I remember serving the locals was a pint of beer called Silver, which must have had a 2% alcohol content because it was so cheap and a half ounce 'Old 'Olburn
My wife is from Hamilton. Strange place, even stranger at night. People are lovely, great football fans and I've been to a few games while visiting family. Not much to look at in terms of the town itself, but drive five minutes out of it and there's some wonderful countryside. I have a friend who lives in Bishop's Stortford, another strange place that feels like it should be nicer than it is. It's...ok.
I've thought of another one. It's probably just my usual level of ignorance, but when we stopped off at Gloucester, I was expecting something posh. I'd probably linked it in my mind with Cheltenham because of the Building Society, and Cheltenham ladies or some nonsense, but anyway, it was a bit breeze block and rustics, but I've had some good times there. Again, cheap beer and friendly people. I think I'm spotting my criteria. Oooh, and another has just popped in my empty head, sort of same area(ish) on the journey south....Yeovil...for those that were there, no explanation needed.
