Definitely reminds me of Ross’s play offs season.
Then we never recovered properly after the Coventry defeat at the SOL,
This time we were in a great position after the Oxford game and then blew it big style against Charlton, Wigan and Blackpool.
Last night stopped the rot but Wright was appalling as was McFadzean.
Felt that Maguire should have been introduced as first sub but again we didn’t use our bench well which has been a constant since Peterborough game.

7 games to go. The aim is to win all 7 - we can do no more.

    Fixed, marra :emoticon-0105-wink:

Win the next four and it could be automatic.
I can see Posh imploding. They have four potentially dificult games.

I've usually got lots of this faith thingy . . . . but probably after recent fortunes I never thought of that :emoticon-0105-wink:

Them losing to Gillingham last night has opened the door slightly.

Lincoln and Charlton are more than capable of beating Peterborough. If they drop points in either of the Donny games, it could let us in.

Accrington and Plymouth are in free fall, and our meeting with Blackpool was very close. Win them three then move on to Northampton. I know they have picked up lately, but if we know at that stage that a win will take us up, then we should be able to claim the three points.

Peterborough 83 points. Sunderland 84 points. Simples!

It could also let Lincoln in.

They are 7 behind Peterborough, with a game in hand, and have to play Peterborough.

Pressure definitely plays a part at this end of the season and it looks like it’s getting to us, but let’s just spare a thought for Peterborough. They’ve spent 8 consecutive seasons in this league and are always at the sharp end come April / May but inevitably fall away when it matters.

Let’s hope history repeats itself this season and we see them drop off when it matters most and we give our heeds a shake and capitalise on their downturn in form.

    I
posted that last week and I still believe it could happen to Posh again. I’m clinging on to the hope anyway <laugh>

Lincoln play Hull on Saturday, and also play Charlton away. I would rather they drew/lost one of those, and beat Peterborough.
You know, I can see us winning the next 4....84 points.
Peterborough take 4 points (a draw and a win v Doncaster, and lose to Charlton and Lincoln). 83 points.
    Lincoln, 10 points (D v Hull, W v Shrewsbury, W v Peterborough, L v Charlton, W v Wimbledon) 82 points.

Thats not beyond the realms of possibility.

  12. Spot on marra....had exactly this conversation with a mate of mine earlier on. We need to win all our games.......if we do...it's entirely possible that Pboro only get 4 more points.
    We are not yet lost!
Mind you....if we are....****ing Charlton in the play off final is a distinct prospect....cue deja-vu meltdown!:emoticon-0107-sweat

Great post! I'm a bit more hopeful myself now. At times against Hull we at least looked a bit like the Sunderland from February.

Now we just need McFadzean to sprain his ankle!

Exactly mate. Our only chance of automatic promotion is if Peterborough get 4 points or less. If they get more than that, we're bollocksed.

We therefore need Charlton plus either Donny or Lincoln to beat Peterborough. If it's Donny, then a draw between Peterborough and Lincoln would be okay. If Donny don't beat Peterborough, then we have to rely on Lincoln doing it, and hoping they draw against someone else. They still have Charlton and Hull to play.

I just hope I get a ticket for Wembley if we get there. Won’t be happy if I hear of people who have hardly stepped foot in the stadium of light in their lives getting a ticket and I don’t. Think it would be my finish with the club tbh ......
