There should be punishment due to the L9 breach: but what I don’t know. All punishments hurt the fans and they have done good for European football so it would be harsh on them.
I don't buy this "oh they shouldn't get punished cos it's not fair on fans" nonsense tbh, don't all football punishments affect the fans when they've no fault? Pretty sure I and fellow Saints fans weren't at fault when we went into administration, still had to watch us start our first season in the third tier for over half a century on minus ten points though.
Arsenal in the Championship As funny as that would be, it was players, managers and fans that heaped the pressure on their owners to get out of the SL, so I don’t see that as fair punishment on their behalf. It should be personal imo, shooting them in the face should do the trick.
I see ESL statement indicates they'll be simply making adjustments and it also makes it known they has legal reassurances that they'd be able to stay in the other competitions. These yanks need to be ousted from Liverpool and man united ASAP. I don't care who buys the clubs.. Get the Saudis on the phone . Anyone! it's about saving our sport. Everyone has to keep pressing fwd until the enemy is destroyed.
Cba to read back. But understand that all six English clubs have withdrawn from this **** house league.
Because with all due respect, the strength of the product relies on the big six being competitive. Try telling BT sport that they’ll be selling subscriptions to a collective fan base a percentage of the size of the collective big 6 for next season and see if they don’t go ballistic with their contract and due payments for CL football. Fans are not responsible for liquidations but there is usually much more collective responsibility in a club operating outside its financial means than there is in an owner colluding behind the backs of everybody involved at the club. It’s like saying take the pensions off Topshop staff because Phillip Green is a ****.
There won't be any punishment at all mate. They all got a substantial handout for withdrawing from eufa. They had reassurances that they'd not be removed from other competitions if it went ahead. The battle is won, but the war is still at play.
Fair enough. At least Arsenal have apologised to our fans. Kronke still needs lobbing in a vat of acid for this though.
My earlier suggestion of no UEFA competition and 20 point deduction wasn't entirely serious but I don't think we should discount punishment because it's not fair on the fans as football punishments have always impacted on the fans. You're right about financial mismanagement can sometimes be wider spread around the club but not always. See Wigan last season for example, was basically criminal behaviour from the new owner but they still lost the points and got relegated. Where the big difference is is a lack of precedent for this situation. But no punishment means they'll be back to try again before long. Whether or not it impacts the fans or not shouldn't be considered, as it isn't in every other case of punishments for clubs where the supporters aren't at fault.
I'd rather see new legislation brought in to stop them or any other club attempting this in the future. Punishments don't solve anything.
That in itself is punishment. It stops them from easily fixing their balance sheet black hole. That’s a first form of punishment. Points deductions in the PL will also hit them financially. But it’s what Uefa do now. Do they ban them from Europe for a season or two? I can’t see that working. That would drive them back to the ESL.
I mean Wigan have got about 6 fans Libby. Tell you how it’s the same, if the fans bailed their clubs out financially and still got punished then that would be the same. I don’t think the governing bodies should be spitting in the face of their closest allies that’s all, at a time when they need them most. If these clubs get heavy fines, more loss of income and face administration, you can bet everything you’ve got that these ruthless money men will be back at the ESL table in an instant.
