I will remember my horror and disbelief the day he was appointed after Poch was sacked in the middle of the night like some common thief.

The horror and disbelief has never lifted tbh, so that will be my enduring memory of our worst managerial appointment since Christian Gross.

I will have one or two fonder memories. The ‘intelligent ****s’ moment is iconic and smashing United at Old Trafford is not something I will forget in a hurry. That, and the win against Chelsea this season in the LC on pens, are probably what I will remember of Jose if I’m feeling charitable.

Other than that, there’s a lot of misery and frustration. He correctly identified IMO that the attitude of too many at the club, both institutionally and with the players, was not that of people used to winning. And that they weren’t mentally strong enough in some ways. We had all seen that to be the case over the years. But he went about rectifying that in a blunt, outdated way that just totally flopped. Some hard truths were told along the way but he never seemed to balance the carrot with the stick, at least with the majority of the players. Eventually, to nobody’s surprise, he lost the squad, and that combined with his increasingly baffling and awful tactical decisions is what has lost him his job.

He is far from the only one to blame for the situation we now find ourselves in, but he has to take his share.

Fury at him being appointed, muted happiness at him leaving. The inbetween was purgatory(not helped by covid tbf).

Some of his stuff in the Amazon doc was great.

Him and Sacramento’s ‘Batman and Robin’ against City will never be forgotten. The way they moved in tandem was brilliant.

Debut win away at West Ham - our first away win in god knows how long. Beat City two out of three times, beat Arsenal two out of three times. Annihilation of Utd at Old Trafford.

It wasn’t all terrible but the good stuff was too few and far between, unfortunately.

    Good questions, Smithy.

One can only assume that we will be short of funds and if we fail to qualify for the Europa League, desperately short of funds this summer. We will be back to having to sell to buy and as the club with the biggest hole from match day income, it will hit us very hard.

It's going to make recruiting any manager who is in a job more difficult. We can only hope that Ryan Mason gets us a EL place and we get some overdue luck in the transfer market.

At least Mourinho's gone and whoever we bring in will have a fresh slate.

Which is why Levy may surprise us by not going for the obvious (read expensive) options.

I told you all this morning - Farke from Norwich.

    Won promotion
    Has developed Skippy
    Knows the English game
    Will be cheaper
A good manager who gets on with his squad.

Levy probably has insurance to cover that. It probably only came into effect after Sunday.

According to some bitter ex-pro who is still upset that we sacked his father nine years ago, we're "clowns" for sacking the ubermensch now when it would have cost us £5m

Why do people listen to this bitter ex-pro who is still upset that we sacked his father nine years ago's punditry again?
