The whole thing is a total **** sandwich.
I've defended FSG in the past because they've done a great job in taking a club in dire straits and putting it back amongst the world's leaders, both on and off the pitch. However, it seems they've learned nothing about the relevance of football in our culture despite run-ins with the fans in the past.
They've dragged the name of the club through the dirt with their self-serving avarice here and I'd be happy to see them gone.
The sad thing is that we and they are in a sense victims of their success. The value they've brought the club up to will price it out of the market to all but the type of owner who would doubtless act the same way under the same circumstances.

From the start this was a dick shaking exercise from the clubs, showing the power they have to eufa.

Do what we want, or we will do what we want.

I'm sure they expected a back lash, but I doubt they where prepared for the magnitude of kickoff that has occurred.

Theyve made themselves look a right bunch of twats.

No actual apology. That club statement is pathetic. Taken no responsibility for the shambles of the last 48 hours. Haven’t even acknowledged it really.

It’s like they think they’ve just floated an idea out there, listened to fan feedback and made a decision from it.

that’s not what’s happened. You signed up for someone no one wanted in secret, and only after the whole football community told you to **** off have you decided maybe it’s not the best idea

I’ve been a fan of fsg and defended them a lot, early days football was new to them. They made mistakes and they learnt. I’ve liked they’ve made us very much more self sufficient, they’ve done brilliant job marketing the club and increasing revenue so we can be self sufficient and compete...

I do feel for them slightly, they got into the club on basis ffp was a big thing to be able to compete fairly, but ultimately fifa and uefa have cowardly done nothing over it and they maybe felt only way to compete is to go down this route, however to not speak about it and gauge opinion from their main stakeholder, the fans, has been their downfall.

I don’t see how they stay at the club now, one, would they want to? And 2, the fans don’t want them to anyway.

only way is if they actually come out, apologise properly and offer to do all they can to make amends, even then will take some grovelling.

Henry and Co can surely never step foot in Anfield ever again, can they?

Cheap as **** statement as well.

I hope their bill for withdrawal is ****ing huge, and they move on. Yanks and togger don’t mix, they’ve put £0 into your club since the day they bought it for a song. Luckiest owners in World football.

Tbh... once your club is worth what ours is now... there are no owners that will come in with football in their hearts...

See we've lost a sponsor... that'll worry FSG more than anything else if it is the start of a trend...

Think we are stuck with FSG for the foreseeable... as long as they continue their absentee landlord act and do not show their faces for a photo op the next time we win a trophy ... not much to be done about it.

We will also now see how serious the govt was about protecting and reforming the game...Will they continue for a independent regulator etc etc... or drop it like a stone now the soundbite of the day has passed?

Good point. Fair play to them for their stance as I’m sure it helped, as they said in the fans meeting today that they’d watch the outcome of any F.A./ PL court actions, but if it went the wrong way, would issue legislation to stop it.

I’m not sure the game needs a regulator or maybe it does? The elephant in the room is wages and agents fees, the Worldwide game needs to find a way of solving that one.

I wanted to give them a chance to apologise. That Statement clearly wasn't it. I still want this to somehow be resolved; it would be a shame to break up this way. And, more practically, I'm worried about who will come in instead.

I've been thinking about the whole issue of where the game goes. It's nothing new, but the current situation has brought it into sharper focus.
The stuff Perez was blurting out about "saving football" is correct, except it needs saving from him and his ilk, not by them. They really must learn to moderate and live within their means, because you can't just keep up irresponsible spending and then trying to wring more money out of it to compensate.
    Will they learn though?
We've become desensitized to the numbers over time, but if you let it sink in and realise that people spend £100m on a bloody football player it's obscene. Perhaps it's ok if you can afford it, but they can't.

I can't imagine anyone who can afford our club being the sort of person I'd like to see owning it.
Perhaps it would help if FSG admitted they misjudged (again), apologise and promise never to try such a bloody stupid trick again. But it'll never happen, and it still wouldn't be enough for many.
Perhaps JH could come over here, wear a clown suit and pick up litter off the streets for a few weeks.

Thinking about the passive aggressive nature of the wording, I reckon FSG are royally pissed off about the ESL being canned. I'm starting to think they'll jack LFC off out of spite.

They (FSG) haven't decided anything, they've been forced. And it's not even a good forced (listening to fans, players, etc), it's a **** forced; Chelsea, Man City, etc pulling out meant theyre was no ESL left.

Not a big one. Tribus Watches...

I'd say the bigger ones won't move now we aren't going into an ESL...
