Wirko was Wirkomanlike to be honest. He was outpaced but kept on for pressure and wore them down. Uncle Bryn had seemed to be going better but was soon in trouble and I can't see him going to the Derby after that showing. It didn't look as if further would help him and post race quotes of 33/1 for the Derby looked nonsense to my eyes. Wirko was cut to 16/1 but I can't see this form being good enough. Star Caliber was woeful and is surely better than that but Technique was a Class 5 winner at Wolverhampton and even giving her two stones improvement from that January race leaves her head second casting a shadow over the form today. Suesa was brilliant in her race. Despite still looking as green as grass, she fairly scooted clear of her field. Ubettabelieveit was never in it and the ground was only good to soft in the end, so that isn't really an excuse. He clearly hasn't run to his Flying Childers form but this was a Group 3 race and Suesa won it like a Group 1 horse today. It might not hold up as a good race and she is not very big but she fairly flew when hitting top gear today. I was actually on again this morning after seeing her sitting at 10/1. I could not believe that the odds represented her actual chance and I feel it is one of those days where punters overlook a trainer they might not be familiar with and got tied to the Group 2 and Group 3 winners, or the Fabre filly. You wait for ever for a winner and then hit a few. This cannot last for sure. Normal service will no doubt be resumed shortly.
Oh well, Elliptic won well, but many thanks today. First time I have been in pocket for a while. Win or lose, certainly enjoy reading your analyses, really excellent.
1st and a 2nd from the two runners. If you haven't seen the 5:15 its worth a look for the impressive nature of how the winner went away from them.
Nice debut from Elliptic. Donnacha has 13 Caravaggio 2YO's in the yard that I noted earlier in the season, so this won't be the last of the sires progeny in the yard to be winning in all probability. As ever, when you mention a stable being out of form the very next runner is a winner. Hapipi Go Lucky never really got into it and that is the risk taken with unraced horses. There was little to make you think she might win next time and she may be a candidate for three runs and then heading to Nursery races. Not a bad day at all.
