A slightly different topic around the big issue of the year...

irrespective of whether the breakaway league happens or not.. is it safe to say those vile 6 have now permanent done damage to their relationship with the fans?

whatever happens bridges will surely be burnt?

it’s like they took the gamble knowingly in the hope that the new fan numbers outweigh the old fan numbers.

Many long term fans of those clubs are lost forever now methinks.

If they pull back then the fans will go back IMO. There will then continue the slow drift away from “old fashioned” principles of loyalty for life to one Club which will increase in pace once those over 50 yo die at which time no “legacy” fans will remain.

Change is the way of the World. It won’t be better, it won’t be worse, it will just be different.

They can’t just pull back on a £4.7bn deal with JP Morgan. And who ****ing wants these ****s back anyway? The clubs sure but the owners should all be considered not fit or proper.

Nah the fans of the 6 clubs will get used to it. I expect they'll oppose it but once it gets going it'll be enjoyable for them..

Our only hope is that they're kicked out the premier league and we can try to build a more exciting league than the super league.

No way back now. Deal legally done. PL can’t influence things through negotiation.

If that's the case then the onus is on UEFA and the PL to decide how they want to act. Its probably more on UEFA as its their competition that is being usurped. I think they should come out immediately and impose following:

    1. All the teams from the breakaway clubs are thrown-out of this year's Champions League and Europa League competitions and forfeit any winnings/appearance from this years competition (if it hasn't been paid yet)
    2. Porto and Borussia Dortmund play off to meet PSG in Champions League Final. Villareal and Roma meet in final of Europa League.
    3. All players from these clubs with contracts extending beyond the end of this season are banned from playing in the European Championships.
    4. Agreed reforms to CL are scrapped and go back to the existing system

For them to stay in the PL the PL have to endorse them playing in the separate competition. L9 of the premier leagues handbook.

So the PL have the power but do they have the balls?

This is the only option for me. But they won’t do that. I can’t see any way the ESL clubs would survive with just their own competition?

If they get kicked out of the PL and the CL then that’s like 200m+ lost revenue.

Lol, how is anybody bothered about that?! This is the point, that these rich buffoons genuinely believe football revolves around this handful of clubs and the rest of us are just feeders with no aspirations. I mean, the last point is true of Ashley's Newcastle United, but for the rest of the footballing world they all believe with the right structure and strategy they can elevate themselves to compete.

You HAVE to kick them out. Let them haemorrhage money, let these owners fail and the rest of us will just carry on. It's as if we can't bear the thought of playing against Man U, when the reality is - especially now - the majority of fans welcome that idea!!

But i have a sinking feeling Chaos is right, that the likes of Masters are so pathetic, cowardly and worried about money that they'll keep bending over and taking it.

When I say they will lose 200m+ revenue I meant the clubs individually. £170m each from the Pl and £30m+ from the ECL.

If they get booted (which they should) then they forfeit 200m to gain 200m?

Go from playing 48 games to 13-15 games. Lost match day revenue and commercial deals.

I can’t see how they could financially be viable and more importantly to the owners be worth more money if they get booted out.

So yes boot them out. But these owners must have a plan for that?

It's a 20 team league, so it's 38 fixtures then play offs. There's no room for any other competition anyway, I don't believe they're bothered. They think they can each eventually reach £1bn a year I'd guess from advertising and sponsorship. They've just got together in a US huddle and got this woefully wrong.

It's ruined it forever for me. I don't want the new CL reforms, I don't want these owners back in the league, I'm most likely done with football forever now. Without "legacy" there's nothing left, the suggestion is kids simply aren't bothered about all the kit and caboodle, and certainly aren't going to pay for content or "waste their time" watching matches.

It won't happen, everything will stay as they are, Man City will sign Messi and their fans will forget all about this. Haaland will go to Chelsea or Man Utd and their fans will forget about it all as well....rinse and repeat !

What SHOULD happen, is these ****ers should be kicked out with immediate effect and not be allowed to play another game this season....they forfeit their remaining fixtures with the points going to the opposing team (hopefully that still keeps us above 18th place). They are also banned from finishing off their european cup competitions and any players from these clubs are banned from playing for their country. Put that on the table in front of them and see how ****ing quickly they backtrack....they should still be docked points if this happens as well, surely they're in breach of something in their PL agreement they signed up to! I suspect the PL lawyers aren't that good mind, especially if MA can legal counsel to make them squirm!

How will the new competition work? Proposals have included a 20-team league, made up of 15 permanent members and five who would qualify annually. This format would see two groups of 10 clubs, with the top four from each group going through to a knockout phase that would be similar to the current Champions League.

I’m wrong. It’s two groups of 10 teams. Then top 4 go through. So it would be 18 + 1,2 or 3 games so max 21.

Quarters and Semi's will almost certainly be two legged things, so winners will end up playing 23, we were both wrong, correct answer in the middle.

23 + 38 is a push, but I don't understand how they see a league continuing when there is no incentive for any other club in that league? It's so stupid.
