I was talking to an ex rangers player about this earlier and he said that if this is all about the $$$ and commercials, then having rangers and or Celtic in it would be a no brainer, they would fill every home game, fill the away end at everyone of their away games no matter how many tickets they where given and the supporter spending would be huge. As much as I'm not a fan of the standard of Scottish football, you can't deny that rangers and Celtic are 2 of the best supported clubs in Europe

Or, don't call it the Champions League. You're not a Champion if you finish 4th. HB Torshavn have more claim to be in the tournament than West Ham do.

I think there are two scenarios to potentially play out here.
    1) it’s just a negotiation for increased share of current uefa, pl revenue and there is no real intention to go through with the breakaway.
    2) the breakaway clubs have done their research and think there are enough tv fans that don’t give a damn about traditions etc to make it work in the long term, if they can ride out the initial backlash.
For either scenario, if the current authorities show any weakness and try to negotiate, the breakaway clubs will get whatever they want. If the authorities show some steel and throw them out of domestic competitions, ban players from internationals etc, I cannot see the breakaway clubs succeeding. Which is why fans really need to show some action rather than ignoring it and hoping it will go away. I really hope the fans of breakaway clubs boycott everything to do with their clubs, cancel memberships, season tickets etc. This will give the pl, uefa etc some confidence that they have fans on their side and go through with their threats.
I still boycott city because of the allams. I refuse to watch us on tv or do anything to give any indication to the allams that I am willing to accept their ownership of the club. Standing outside grounds with protest banners and then paying money to the clubs by buying anything they sell, is playing right into their hands. My fear is that there are more than enough plastics out there to make this plan work, but fans do have enough power to stop it if enough show some resolve.
Anyway, we are more than a day through this and I haven’t seen any online petition yet on this forum, so here is a link (apologies if missed it somewhere else).

Seem to recall Celtic managed to be the 1st British team to collect the European Cup trophy. And that was when debatably the competition was a fair bit more difficult to navigate.

    He always did.

    Fair play to Herr Klopp.[/QUOTE]
He also said that he wouldn’t resign, had a go at Gary Neville for daring to mention you’ll never walk alone, and had a go at Leeds players for leaving them this champions league shirts. The bloke is a perfect representation of that horrible club, pretend to be one thing but do the complete opposite.

I don’t know why people are praising Klopp. He gave a politician’s answer and minced his words; essentially ‘I’m against it in theory but we’ll see’.

As you say, he then went on to deflect about the issue by having a go at Neville, Leeds and even Liverpool fans who put signs up at Anfield. The guy’s a bollockless mouthpiece for his cowardly employers. He was vehemently against Super League 2 years ago when he thought it would never happen but now it’s happening he’s ummed and ahhed about it.

The ESL has nothing to do with fans in the ground, who will be almost universally against this plan at all clubs, it’s entirely about a worldwide TV audience and Scottish football doesn’t have one.

That said, the Scottish reference was only a joke (I even put a laughing emoji for the hard of thinking), they’ve actually put in some decent performances in the Champions League.

I didn’t say it wasn’t on TV, I said it didn’t have a global TV audience, reflected in the SPL TV revenues which are only a quarter of the EFL’s,

I heard someone say redistribute trophies from clubs that will no longer be participating in the FA cup etc if this farcical ESL goes ahead.

Who lost narrowly in the 2014 FA Cup Final?

How far are you going back on that? TWS would get loads as they were perpetual runners up.

Well, I was completely wrong with this light-hearted prediction! The players looked, not quite bewildered, but as if they were thinking wtf's going on with the game and the atmosphere, if there is one with no crowd, seemed muted.
