We're in the top 12 in turnover in Europe but with three ahead of us in England and that's down from 5 over the last year. Being the fifth or sixth best team anywhere isn't the way to succeed. So it's entirely unsurprising that we've both lacked trophies and are considered to be at the top table.

Schalke have the 3rd highest revenue in the Bundesliga and they're currently going down with an astonishingly low points total.
They've won 2 league games this season and didn't win any of their last 16 matches last season.
They're in the top 15 clubs for revenue though, so I expect they'll either be or have been invited.

Schalke should be there on the basis of the “big clubs” criterion - aside from the issue that German clubs have boycotted it. But would Schalke have done so given their predicament?
And if they want to maximise revenues based on worldwide fan base, TV appeal and merchandising etc, where’s the invite for Celtic? They might not generate the revenues now, stuck in Scotland, but they would in another setting - which is why they have always been bullish about their chances if they joined the PL.

I'm guessing clubs like that would be part of the next round, who aren't guaranteed a place.
For all of Celtic's talk, their revenue pales in comparison to sides from Russia, Turkey, Holland, etc.

Celtic would be a different beast with access to TV revenues. They have a global appeal because of the Irish connection, particularly in the US.
If the big six are expelled, then Leicester and West Ham are in a title race and Leeds could get in the CL. If Arsenal decide to drop out , they might get in the EL places again :emoticon-0138-think

I didn't say the criterion was only revenue. I was just illustrating that we can now be in the top 10 richest clubs in Europe and it is still unsurprising that we've not won much when we've been sixth or below in England. Look at any league anywhere and see how much the club with the sixth most money has won.
It's not even recent that money matters. Look who had the most in the early 60s.
The structure proposed for the Super League is obviously driven by the US model and is rotten. But I can't see that we had any option but to sign up when invited.

We could've said no, but I know they'd have just invited someone else or gone ahead without us.
The club should be opposed to the entire thing for a variety of reasons, though.
We'll probably have an embarrassing climbdown coming and a load of turmoil between the fans and owners now.

The Premier League was all about money.
The Champions League was all about money.

How many other organizations can you name that are more corrupt than FIFA?

If Chelsea win the FA Cup in May, It will mean that 16 of the last 25 FA Cups have been won by Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham.

    Chelsea 8
    Arsenal 8
    Tottenham 0

Oxford University have won more major English honours than Millwall.
Queens Park have reached more major English cup finals. No, not Queens Park Rangers, the 4th tier Scottish side.
