I'm not sure they'll be able to stop them, the ESL have already stated they'll challenge that through the courts and if they did stop it they'd be cutting their noses off to spite their faces. Who's going to be bothered about watching a world cup without all the best players in the world attending?
Not me for one mate ... would even go as far as to say I'd not watch my own club's games in it if we ever took part. Football should always be about uncertainty and the impossible being possible (contradiction I know) ... guaranteeing some clubs a place at the top table goes against all my principles. You Spuds are included in this monstrosity despite not winning any silverware for 13 years ... and that was the League Cup ... gotta go back 30 years for you winning one of the Big 2 trophies and 60 years for a league title ... how the **** can they argue this is a meritocracy? In Spain, Valencia, Deportivo, Real Sociedad and Atletic Bilbao have all won titles since Spurs last did and in Italy, Bologna, Fiorentina, Cagliari, Lazio, Torino, Roma, Verona, Napoli and Sampdoria ... so any argument that this is down to past success is also complete bollocks ... it's a commercial abortion constructed by greedy businessmen ... Genuine fans should give it a proper swerve IMHO ...
As I said that's down to individuals, play for your country or play in the superleague hmm you have players already putting club before country with an injury before a friendly, retiring early etc
How any club can be included in a European 'Super League' without ever winning a European Cup is beyond me. It's like overdue April Fools' joke.
You’d assume they would be one of the 5 teams invited to play in it for next season. Whether they would accept or not is another matter If the Champs League continues along side the ESL (and in the same format) you’d have the team finishing potentially 10th in the Prem being in it, and Europa League even lower. There are too many variables atm to really be able to make a prediction of how this will end up, but the fact it’s being considered is either a huge bluff to get UEFA to cave into what their demands are for a revamped Champs League, but the steps they’ve taken might have pushed it too far already with fan bases

This could be an abstruse way of the top six bringing in B teams, which so far had been rejected by EFL with the exception of the paint pot trophy, but B Teams with a difference compared to the JPT or whatever it's called now. The top six play their cream players in the Super League, which will have no affiliation with the Premier League, thus allowing them to play a different 11 (B Team) in the EPL, afterall with no affiliation or without rule changes by the EPL, what would stop them from doing that. They already do it now at times, if they have a big Champions League game coming up. That's why there would be no excess of fixtures. I wouldn't trust this lot as far as I could throw them, there is defo more to this, than we are even seeing now. It's financial business throw in your ****test hand, then let the rest barter you down. Then you throw in your next hand and say, ok we won't make it a closed shop, but for this, we want this, which will be more than they are even telling us now. Is there any EPL rules that state you have to give in a list of your A players. As long has you play the same eleven more or less every week in the EPL, no rules broken.
You may be right. Spanish football has B teams playing in the lower tiers but have rules which state a B team of a club cannot play in the same division as the A team of the same club. Real Madrid Castilla can't play in La Liga for this reason. It could very well be a case of Real Madrid's senior team joining the Super League and Real Madrid Castilla getting promoted to La Liga, with Perez funding both teams to be competitive in both leagues. Perez probably told the big six owners to set up their own B teams like Real Madrid Castilla so they can find a loophole to play in the domestic leagues and Super League.
Who’d give a **** about a league where 15 of the clubs couldn’t be relegated as they were founder members? It’d have the same kudos as some ****ty pre season tournament in the Far East. It’s a twat of an idea that’s been driven by clueless Sherman’s who desperately want to cover the money they’ve haemorrhaged during COVID.
Yup ... nowt more than the Emirates Cup on steroids ... won't be giving it the time of day and would be disgusted if we ever accepted an invitation ... my club is now challenging for European competition each season because of our exploits on the field, not devious dealings at Boardroom level ... that is the only way I'd want it.
Lest not forget the same type of plan was voiced last year for the Premiership and is still ongoing,it's no coincidence that's it's the same clubs.
Exactly. Football without the pyramid system and the merit based promotion & relegation / European qualification is just a kickabout for ‘entertainment’. Your club is a classic example. A L1 outfit who got 2 promotions, got into the PL, nearly got relegated then won the ****er the following year, beating the odds and entering Europe’s elite club tournament on absolute merit. We’re now looking a situation in which midtable Arsenal and an average Spurs side have somehow been anointed as part of the untouchable ‘elite’, and completely trashing the value of your club and possibly West Ham making the CL this year on pure merit. The owners responsible for this should get in the ****ing bin. I hope the leagues and UEFA hold their nerve and if they refuse to back down, show them the door and wish them luck. The rest of the football family can rebuild from there.
As said, it's the Americans. With their Gridiron, Baseball and Basketball franchises, they just have never bought into the concept of relegation and promotion. But they've had ****ing decades now, and still no acceptance, so eventually, they're just trying to get us to do things their way. It's cultural imperialism, and it's what Murdoch has wanted to do all his life - turn the UK (and Australia) into sections of the Libertarian, NeoCon hegemony of the US empire. Cowboy ****s.
I can't think of any fans who would be up for this super league ****. I don't think it will happen tbh Fully embarrassed we are involved in it tho.
I was just saying to a lad at the gym I’d happily stand outside Anfield with a gaggle of bindippers in solidarity and they’d do the same for us, and you know when England’s biggest rivalry can bury its beef things are out of control. You know where I’d be looking to stop it though, the Police. If they come out and said no games will be policed in a ESL, and the Gov banned games going ahead without police, the clubs would be bound and tied with nowhere to go but The Middle East, where shells of clubs would exist and top players would refuse to play.
