As they’ll never receive permission to enter this tournament from the English FA and they’d be in legal breach of their PL contracts if they joined another league without the consent of the PL inc the FA as a stakeholder.

So they don’t get to have their cake and eat it, simple really. If you think other clubs and the associations are just going to rollover here and take their shafting you’re deluded imo.

Personally if that’s the price of protecting the game from this sort of outright greed that goes against what the very essence of what the game is all about, then so be it, not ****ing arsed.

I don’t think they’d have a second division. Probably go NFL and have 2 conference, with op few teams going into playoffs for a super bowl style winner

It would be an absolutely huge gamble for the prem to expel them. Yes the pl may survive, but revenue would drop and then how to teams like Everton pay their players when tv money drops? Wage bill was like 70% of turnover or something? What if that turnover suddenly halves and you can’t pay players?

also la liga is Madrid and Barca. That league would collapse without them..

No, it’s the other way around, the gamble would be the clubs who’d be CHOOSING to walk away in order to pursue this. No one is forcing anyone to leave, what’s being said is that you can’t have both, it’s their choice. One that if they make, will be on their heads, the football pyramid will adjust to its new reality as the TV money reduces. It won’t kill the game.

But let’s be real, the Prem need the big 6 more than they need the prem.

So do you think Everton players (and I’m only using them as they are known to have high wage to turnover ratio, but prob applicable to a few teams) will accept a 50% wage reduction once the tv money is cut in half? Or do you think they’ll say no I signed a contract to earn 100k a week, pay it to me.

What happens when Everton, Leicester, villa, wolves all can’t afford to pay their players for a season? What happens when parachute payments have to stop and teams who get relegated suddenly go bankrupt?

I said last night, this just shows a complete disdain for the supporters of all of the clubs involved. It’s ****ing shameful behaviour. Fans aren’t having this, and I note the SOS have come out strongly opposed, this is a fight that will lead to a complete ****storm if they don’t back down.

so if nobody is forcing them to leave, and all they are simply choosing to play something else in midweek and not a uefa competition. why again can't they have both?

I have not seen any "recent" demand in this proposal to change anything about the prem. merely 6 of its clubs choosing to enter a new european format.

I still don't see much of anything bar other clubs moaning to stop them.

Worst case scenario, clubs could be forced to release players on frees and replace them with players contracted on money befitting the new reality. Seeing as you brought Everton up, we’d be in the CL next season, let that sink in <laugh>

i would say your version of the PL is disingenuous since the support of the FA is a bit of a red herring as the point was to break away from the Football league so the what became the PL could hoover up most of the dosh .
The FA supported it just to stick one to the League .

so what is the punishment for this legal breach? when all is said and done what is the logical outcome? what punishment could be actually applied as expulsion is just out of the question. The largest ever sanction i can recall is the handling of juventus for match fixing where one single club was dealt with. Rangers was not even similar as it was bankruptcy.

I've never said I think anyone is going to roll over, i've said they will have to enter negotiations.

I've said consistently I agree with you on the large points consistently as well so lets leave the deluded comments aside.

oh i don't think you will find one regular match goer from any of the English teams in support of this* but do the owners care ?

    * City fans can't even be bothered to go to their CL games ffs .

Then you’re choosing to ignore the salient point. Currently the PL’s competition is all about getting into the CL & EL spots, so these 6 can finish anywhere in the league, play in some SL, they the rest have no access to, and it’d completely devalue the completion and ****s all over the principle of merit.

They’re legally bound to the PL and as part of that contract they can’t join another league without the agreement of that league. That permission won’t be granted. That’s it. So if they chose to do it anyway they’d do so knowing they’d lose their PL stake.

yeah...... release on frees to go where and for how much of a pay off.

richarilson is on 120k per week til 2024? call it 3 yearsx52x120 = thats an 18mil liability before bonuses and loyalty payments etc.

best of luck with that one.
you would owe iwobe and gomes 13mil a piece.

    clean that stuff up eh?

you would be in the equivalent of the europa league with porto and ajax and leicester. uefa would have to hand back tv money to Bt et al as the tv companies won't take a bath.

Lets not pretend this is not a complete mess
