Liverpool and United were the ones that disappointed me the most. Like Gary Neville said, Chelsea and Man City are 'new money' so this money-grubbing by them isn't a shock. Arsenal and Spurs just want to stay relevant at any cost. But Liverpool and United are two clubs with massive history, a history that started with the working-class in the North West. Glazers and FSG are spitting in the face of every Liverpool and United supporter born and raised in those cities in order to pander to 'fans' thousands of miles from Liverpool and Manchester who've never set foot in Anfield and Old Trafford. Utter disgrace.
But who makes that decision on whether they stay or go? If it is the owners of the other 14 teams they aren’t going to **** off their revenues overnight. Even if it is the board or whatever of the PL they aren’t going to want to piss off their other members by ****ing off their revenues overnight. The league will just bend over and completely change the fixture schedule to accommodate this new league and hope there is still some interest in the PL as well as the ESL from the global fans who are the only ones they care about
While I hope you are right, Tobes, I fear you wont be. UEFA and the PL are cowards, and I fear that once this "European Super League" works out a remuneration deal with them to keep them sweet, they will cave. I sincerely hope I am wrong though
Don't be surprised if club shops get bricks and petrol bombs thrown at them. ****s have forgotten it's still socially-acceptable to wear a mask in public
The FA holds the key stake in the PL though, no way they’re bending over for this, plus you underestimate the rest as well imo, plus you’re ignoring they fact that without the PL revenues these 6 can’t make that noddy midweek kickabout pay anyway. They can’t walk away from the PL & CL cash combined overnight and expect this ESL to replace both revenues, they therefore don’t hold all the cards, far from it.
As Mr55p has pointed out just the threat of this has forced UEFA into proposing an abortion of a format for the CL so its a loss - loss situation . I appear to be the target audience as a now armchair supporter but they can just **** right off as it has absolutely zero appeal .
Completely agree but those two football clubs don't exist anymore. I know Pool fans would like to pretend otherwise on their part, but United as a football club were killed many years ago. They even took 'Football Club' off the badge, ****ing years ago too. Says it all.
If any of you guys that support the big clubs have anything about you, you have to boycott your clubs for this. Trying to eliminate competition from the sport is an absolute disgrace
Do you reckon it's purely based on football results or do you think Mourinho kicked up a stink and called Levy a **** over this Super League bollocks?
I don’t know what they currently get from the PL tv deal, but saw £350m a season quoted for the ESL, for each founding club. I guess that’s just competition money before you get into prize money for winning games, as I say no idea what that is like for comparison to what the teams currently get from the PL/CL
Timing just seems way off for it to be purely results-based. Spurs have a cup final in a week's time. He's definitely said or done summat that's pissed off Levy regarding the ESL Wonder if Klopp will stick to his principles and resign in disgust.
Who's going to pay for it? I know JP Morgan are fronting it,I have a SKY subscription and if that league is part of it I'll drop it,do they plan to have their own TV Service?
Mate, our fans have boycotted FSG on a number of issues. The only reason they backed down on the furlough issue was that our own fans pressurised them to do so; nothing to do with the furore from outside the club. But Liverpool isn't run for its fans anymore, as indeed the other 'Big 6' aren't either. As said, give it 10 years and Liverpool Mersey Beats will be playing in the MSL, with franchised games in Singapore, Tokyo and Wembley squeezed in. In the long run, they're truly not arsed.
There is only 2 of the 'big 6' in the top 6 at the minute. A big slap in the faces to the likes of West Ham, Leicester and Everton. Shameful.
If he got the sack then Spurs will have to pay him,I'd like to believe it was for your reason,no doubt we'll find out in due course.
