There is no chance they get kicked out of the PL. For something like that to go through my understanding is that 14 teams have to vote “yes” on it. Let’s not pretend that the other owners wouldn’t have also accepted this super league idea if they had actually been invited.

If you kick those 6 out then the PL tv deal goes away and is replaced with something far far far smaller, so you are essentially asking 14 business owners to devalue their brand by about 75% or something over night.

Playing at the World Cup should be the ultimate dream for any footballer. Forgive me for being a bit naïve, but I'd like to think players like Foden, Greenwood and TAA, who have got most of their career ahead of them and could play at 3 world cups would have serious doubts about playing in this ESL.

All depends on what the drop off in salary is from ESL to non ESL. Wasn’t there a similar thing in rugby when the french league got big? Did that deter players from going there?

I don't know about that. These clubs would be joining a league that hasn't been verified. I would imagine there could be grounds for expulsion without a vote.

I’m not a champs league follower, never watch the games barring the odd final. However I can see the merit and the achievement of qualifying.

Who can tell me the point of a super league which never changes. Are we supposed to give a **** who comes last in a league without consequences? Are we supposed to be interested because these teams were once the biggest clubs in their home nations?

There are no stakes and before long there will be no roots for these clubs. The European nights are grand affairs that are earned and seldom happen. That’s why people desire the success of beating the European clubs. Failure should drive more desire. Take that away and you’re left with nothing. Guaranteed fixtures without stakes.

It’s a hollow empty concept from hollow empty owners for nothing but their own enrichment.

In closing. **** ‘em, dock ‘em, ban ‘em.

I fully agree with the sentiment but they are products and brands first and foremost. They won’t say **** until their agents lawyers, dads and financial advisors have okayed every word. I hope that there’s one kid out there with a soul that hasn’t yet been sold. I need a hero, currently experiencing unnatural love for Gary Neville and it’s feeling wrong.

Hey, look on the bright side.

We're 8th in the league right now. Decent season that.

This is what happens when you tell someone like Amazon they can’t have more tv rights.

Amazon and DAZN have got the rights for the ESL. That’s why sky and bt are so pissed off

Again though, whoever is making the decisions to ban them is essentially taking all the money away from the remaining clubs. I just can’t see them doing that

The contempt I have for this idea is hard to describe.
A corporate, capitalist nightmare that is an insult the working class communities of the UK.

Can you elaborate? In the first year or two yes but let’s not forget the real reason for this move is that those EPL clubs want more money from the EPL. They don’t believe in the even distribution of broadcasting money and want the smaller clubs to receive less. Who is voting to keep the greedy bastards if that’s the outcome?

These clubs go into the super league on a high but take away their domestic leagues and international teams and suddenly they have nothing to offer players but money. To my mind it’s going to be no more than the china leagues where The best players go for big money after they’ve finished their real careers. The EPL is watched for talent, I can’t see the best talent going to a closed league for money alone. Not all of it anyway.

The league will erode the fan base of every club in it. All it will take is governing body to have the conviction of their opening statements.

There is a certain irony that the majority of clubs that have signed up first to a European Super league are from a country not in the European Union....

Id assume the reason the PL tv deal is so big currently is the demand globally (China/India/Africa/USA) to watch the league. I’d say that the vast majority of these fans paying the tv money and watching the games support a top 6 team. If they aren’t in the PL anymore then the demand isn’t there and the tv deal decreases hugely. And getting a smaller cut of a huge tv deal is better than a large cut of a tiny one.

You might be right that some of the players won’t join the ESL because they want to play international football etc. It all depends on how much money is left in the domestic leagues though. If you are talking £100s of thousands per week in the ESL and just £thousands a week in the domestic league then the top talent would still almost certainly go for the money

They want to focus on the tourist, fair-weather fans. You know, the ones who have no affliation to clubs, but just come to watch for the spectacle.

Even if all the best players did piss off, who cares? My best years as a Saints fan were watching Lee Barnard smash them in against Walsall - not watching us play Spurs or Liverpool.

There wouldnt be enough clubs to take all good premier league players away so the standard of football would be decent still.

I say let them go completely. The premier league will be competitive with any 1 of 10 sides being able to win it. Whereas Spurs and Arsenal can enjoy getting spanked 3-0 every week by Madrid, Juve and co.

    Happy days!

Fans have to vote with their money. Boycott this ridiculous idea and then they have to listen. If no one pays to watch this sham of a competition, it will have to be scrapped
