2.25 Ayr Scarlet Dragon 20/1 It looks like Alan King has targeted this race for Scarlet Dragon and after a gentle prep back over hurdles at Huntingdon last time the handicapper has dropped him 5lbs to 135, just 3lbs above his last winning mark over hurdles (a listed event at Market Rasen over 2 miles - good, good-soft in places).
Ayr 15,35 Dingo Dollar 11/1 e/w Lads, Coral and bet365 ( all five places) Second race since he's been training with Sandy Thompson, won the first one and despite the increase in his mark I think he won't be out of place here. He hasn't run over 3m 2f but I think he can stay.
I'm staying in Ayr at the moment. I'm just back in from walking the dog and I can confirm that the going on the front field was good to soft, soft in places. There's still a little bit of rain about, too.
Morning all - bets today: Ayr 3.00pm Tamaroc du Mathan 7/4 win. Has improved with each start over fences and has only found Shishkin too good this season. He looks like a progressive horse and has solid form on good ground. The favourite is 10lbs clear on official ratings but he has earned that over 2m and not sure the step up in trip will suit. Ayr racecourse has quite a long straight and the selection will be fresh for this so I m taking him to beat the favourite. Ayr 3.35pm Notachance 12/1 each way 6 places. Won the Classic Chase over 3 miles 5 furlongs which was a decent effort. Seemed to get stuck in the mud on his last run up at Haydock but happy to forgive him that run. Trainer likes to target this race and i feel at only 7 years old has more to offer. Good luck all!
Morning all, in his blog Tom Lacey was in a proper strop over the Ayr going on Friday. He reckoned they’d massively over watered leaving the ground far worse than the advised conditions. Race times for Friday were between 10 and 30 seconds slower than standard. I assume standard times are measured on good, good to soft ground so it would appear he had a point. Anyway I’m hoping that my betting interest in today’s Scottish Grand National survives a circuit which will be an improvement on Aintree. Stake split between Coup De Pinceau and Some Chaos. Both 20/1. In their Champion Hurdle a little ew also on Miss Heritage for Lucy Wadham. Good luck all.
A little Lucky 15 for me at Ayr and a couple of ew plays in the National. 1.15 Grand Sancy 1.50 Five Star Getaway 2.25 Thyme White 3.35 Mighty Thunder National Mighty Thunder & Claud And Goldie Have a nice Sunday all. Good luck with your bets
@stick: any thoughts on the bumper? Princess has pointed out the Frankel debutant on the Frankel - Stud Career thread but the one I like is Alan King's grey Masaccio - gets 5lbs WFA and beat a decent sort on debut. I think he might have more speed than the Nicholls runner and offers a bit of value at around 11/2
I was surprised to see so many 4 year old winners of this in last decade, including a superstar. One name dominates the roll of honour that is Nicky Henderson, so I wouldn't rule his horse out either. Then you've got an interesting Irish runner on debut. Such an interesting race, and one to follow for their hurdling and chasing careers. Notebook at the ready.
Three darts at Ayr today 1.50 -Five Star Getaway win 9/2 3.15- Mighty Thunder 10/1 & Sams Adventure 25/1 both each way in the Scottish National
With the last of the main first Classic trials today at Newbury, we have not really learnt much so far as the betting for Newmarket is dominated by horses that are going straight there. The ‘Fred Darling’ looks a very hot race with half the field coming in with just potential rather than juvenile pattern form. Frankie has chosen Wild Iris from the Gosden team, Lady Bamford’s filly winner of her only start, a moderate Newcastle novices’ race. Similarly, Roger Varian’s filly Zaajirah won a moderate Kempton novices’ event from which the runner up was subsequently well beaten. With Ryan Moore riding Hugo Palmer’s Liberated Lady, an easy winner of a Wolverhampton race on her second start, she might be better than Sir Michael Stoute’s Ville De Grace, touched off when Moore rode her second time at Yarmouth after winning on her at Kempton. Lucid Dreamer won both her juvenile starts easily but the one over course and distance was only three runners and clearly she has great potential. Isabella Giles won the Rockfel and the Prestige Stakes but was a total no-show in the Fillies’ Mile in a busy two year old campaign; however, she may have been too keen on that last start and merits respect here for Adam Kirby. Several of the others are tied together by the Cheveley Park. Dandalla won the Duchess of Cambridge and the Albany before finishing fifth at HQ with Illykato three lengths behind. More than three lengths in front was Richard Hannon’s Happy Romance, winner of the big sales race at the Ebor meeting. Third home in the Group 1 was Richard Fahey’s Umm Kulthum. In his Sporting Life column he states that Paul Hanagan thinks she will stay so it will be interesting to see what tactics he adopts. However, the form horse is clearly the Cheveley Park winner ALCOHOL FREE, who reversed Dick Poole running with Happy Romance that day, goes unpenalised here and has the services of Oisin Murphy. Whilst the Greenham Stakes is contested by a numerical good field, quite a few of them simply do not look to have the form. Chelmsford conditions race winner Fundamental is priced on where he lives. After winning the Norfolk, The Lir Jet ran well without winning and it is hard to make a case for him over this trip. Rhythm Master was third in the Prix Morny and the Mill Reef but that gave the impression that he wants some juice in the ground so I discount him here. Coventry Stakes winner Nando Parrado was second in the Prix Morny (ahead of Rhythm Master) but was hammered in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on bad ground. I think he will be seen in a better light on this quicker ground and is a live contender for Clive Cox. Mujbar won the Horris Hill on heavy ground but prior to that was well behind Chindit in the Champagne Stakes and I see no grounds for him reversing that form on quick ground. Chindit and ALKUMAIT both finished out with the washing in the Dewhurst on soft ground and I do not think that was a good form race. Prior to that ALKUMAIT had won the Mill Reef at this track impressively and fortunately my jinx jockey has opted for Mujbar!

Which website do you use to find previous winners of a specific race Nass? I know Henderson sent Sprinter Sacre up to win this bumper and I'm sure he's had a couple of others win it?
a few big races today then held over from yesterday. Will go for Snow Lantern and Al Aasy in the first 2 at Newbury. The Greenham whilst competitive doesn't look that strong. I certainly don't think there is any value in the favourite. 2 at bigger prices I think can go well are the Coventry winner Nando Parrado and the Norfolk winner The Lir Jet ridden by Oisin Murphy. At 16/1 this has to be a great each way bet. Over at Ayr the jumps season keeps going. In the 2.25 I think one of the two Paul Nicholls runners can win. In the Scottish National Mighty Thunder looks to have a good chance but will probably find one too good. At 20/1 Chapel Stile is probably the value each way bet.
