My issues isn't with electric vehicles, or even climate change, and certainly not the conspiracy Mr Big out there. Have you seen the **** ups they do in public, and people still think these people could mastermind global control on the quiet?

It's the lack of cohesive thinking behind some of the 'solutions', and that's partly due to the decision makers not grasping the science and engineering underpinning it, and being swayed by emotional, rather than factual arguments, which are often on very weak ground scientifically.

For just one line of it, fossil fuels are portrayed as evil, yet they have saved and improved the lives of millions of people on the planet, and led to the salvation of creatures that would otherwise have become extinct. Deaths from natural disasters are reduced by well over 90% from pre-industrial times, due to the measures made possible by the condensed, transportable, affordable energy in fossil fuels. Chuck in the medical equipment, and other industries fueled by it and electricity, and the demonisation starts to look like pure propaganda.

What many of the measures being pushed miss, is that they are not capable of doing all of that with the technologies currently available, and they will cause harm and suffering to poorer nations if they pursue it in the way they advocate. It will also leave people in the west much more under the whim of whoever controls the fuel. There are also some potential negative impacts of shifting to electric vehicles, so there is the risk of going to great expense to simply shift from one problem to another. Producing wind turbines and solar panels, never mind disposing of them is environmentally horrendous, never mind the trees lopped down to make room for them.

That's not to say don't do it, but trying to rush headlong as they are, on the whims of ideologists and not scientists, is foolhardy.

Are we making Tezla batteries from recycled egg shells now ?

And the electricity to charge the car comes from solar and wind power.

In England where it's rarely windy or sunny .

When Extinction rebellion start blocking traffic in Beijing and Greta talks about the CCP which causes more emissions than the Western World combined perhaps we'll take them seriously.

It's going to be the big Oil companies getting huge contracts to make sustainable energy projects.
It's all about Global control of everything and punishing the plebs.

It will be. We just need to change the climate first, and make the sun come out at night of course.

I've never understood why geothermal energy hasn't been exploited in the UK. In East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, there's enough geothermal energy to provide heat to a third of UK households. There are other hot spots in parts of the country too.

In Iceland, geothermal energy provides 26% of the nation's electricity and heating to 87% of the buildings. The rest is made up by hydro and only 0.1% by fossil fuels. When you compare that with the potential in the UK, it seems like a no-brainer.

I'd link your suggestions on that and nuclear, with a push for people and industry to use less energy in the first place, so there's less need for power production.

Chuck in hydrogen produced locally by electrolysis from turbines spinning when there's no other demand, and I reckon we've jobbed it. <ok>

China also has a population of 1.4 billion. Of course they're going to produce more emissions than North America and Europe combined because their population is more than North America and Europe combined. More people = more consumption. It's hardly a gotcha. When you look at percentages and not just the base number, China is head and shoulders above the US and Europe. Their renewables account for 26% of electricity, compared to the US' 17%, and it's expected to rise.

China is also the leading country in renewable energy production. They're expected to reach grid parity next year.

The geothermal energy in the Lake District and County Durham is equivalent to 5 nuclear power stations, FYI. Seems bizarre that no British government has made any commitments to construction of geothermal stations in the North.

It links back to what a said in my longer waffle. There's a lot of jockeying for position by the big power players, trying to re-purpose their existing systems so they keep the most involvement for the minimum changes.

There's a big push to call anyone questioning the main narrative as a 'denier' in order to silence them. They even rolled at the Swedish thing, who has little real understanding, so that any comments could be described as bullying a little girl. They added her Asperger s in as the icing on the cake.

But a big part of the scientific process is challenge, and questioning things, and has resulted in some great advancements for society. If the goal truly is a better environment, skepticism and questioning should be encouraged and supported. We should always be suspicious when people try to limit those challenges.

That's weird the guy that wrote Covid-19 the great reset Klaus Shwab from the World Economic Forum seems to be fully behind the UN Global sustainable Development push too .

Almost as if locking down most of the World and destroying the economy was part of the big plan .

Not really noticed her on much recently, but Naomi Weibt has some interesting views on it, and has at least read into it.

You are happy to be locked down by Boris Johnson indefinitely and don't question the motives behind it .

Why is Tobias so obsessed with the idea that we all love Boris Johnson? I would've thought somebody as intelligent as him would recognise that politics is a plurality rather than a duality, and that hating Labour does not make one a supporter of the Conservatives (or any member thereof). Am I wrong?

I can't recall the outcome now, but there was a bit of a to do over a change to the bill from 'reducing emissions from farming' to adding something that related to pretty much stopping meat production and pushing vegetarianism. That was despite the fact the Farmers had just had official approval of their plan that showed they'd be carbon neutral before the required dates.

Anyone that thinks this is all about science, rather than people taking advantage and pushing ideologies, really hasn't looked in to it.
