and in cramlington. plan is to have 3 big hubs near every UK airport, so looks like they'll be avoiding any ferry /haulage/ shipping problems by using air freight. good news for airports like teesside etc. and thousands of new jobs in construction and new staff.

I have heard a couple of similar stories.
My boss says his daughter started on one last year in Lancashire. Initially it was very casual, you'd get a text to say there was work that day. This seemed to suit some people, but his daughter was after more, so she always said yes to a text and went in.

After not long she was in more often and then offered a full time job. She's went up a rung or two now and says she really likes it.

Wouldn't do for me, but I'm a crustacean who is used to different!
My sons mate has been in the Durham one now for a bit and has given a similar impression. If you're willing , you'll get a bit back he says.

My experiences with Amazon have all been on the technology side of things and dealing with their consultants, but from what I've heard they are a company that will look after you if you put in the effort and have the right attitude. Their salaries and benefits are good and there is a career path. I've also heard that if you want a simple / easy life and want to doss your way around, then you'll be found out straight away and be out the door. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I don't get the attitudes of some when it comes to using technology instead of people to pick / pack items in the warehouse. Its called progress and just an extension of what has been going on for 100's of years. The industrial revolution was built on technology replacing people. However, I do think the likes of Amazon should be doing more when it comes to tax and contributing to the countries they are operating in.
