It may have been apparent that firmino was on the way down last year but would anyone have dared to dismantle the fabled trio? One attacker could lose form but all three as a group? I still cannot believe that In last 3 and half months that front three has been the worst attack in the premiership especially at home.

That is why the rumours about the three falling out ring true. Mane is still running and bustling like always but last season he was scoring important goals. Not scoring is an indication of regression surely?

But we did buy Jota to help rotate with the front 3 and you can argue he has been far more important than Bobby. So it feels like the plans were already there to start building for the future.

With Mane, I don't think it is a regression and is more down to poor form. But only time will tell. His goal record up until October was still up there I think.

Mane and Firmino's last 24 appearances combined:

    Goals - 2
    Assists - 4

He really hasnt been in great positions. When was the last time we've seen him enabled to run in behind onto a ball to cross. He is running up and down but not being supported to get beyond.

Also I love how we moan we done have a squad capable of competing, back up isn’t good enough yet ag same time everyone wants Matip, Gini, ox, shaq, Keita, mane, firmino all sold.

**** it let’s just play with a squad of 14 next year shall we <laugh>

Some that aren’t reliable then yes, but they need replacing and then adding to remember abs it’s gonna be a difficult summer window with euros, then you have afcon and Olympics next year.

Bobby and mane might not be on great form, but I’d rather have them in the squad. Put it this way who would you rather bring on to try break down a team or hold the ball, Bobby, or Origi?

If you saw a team called random FCC come to Anfield with those 7 players you'd be kicking your chops as they would be called weak knees.

    Sell the lot. Who cares.

Really confirm how lucky we’ve been last season with injuries. We managed to play our top 11 in practically all the competitive matches. But that luck changed as it inevitably had to the wins dried up. Our back up players have shown they are not up to it. We should sell them and produce a new squad with some of the key players we want to keep like Allison Jota TAA Fabinho and others. All great teams have at least 2 good players for any position, we don’t.

I definitely want us to add players rather than lose people like Gini, Matip etc. They're good players with a lot of experience. But let's be real - we're a sell to buy club. We have to get to rid of players to make space in the squad, free up wages and ultimately raise funds.

And let's be honest - say we need to break down a team and score goal, do we really want to bring on Bobby? When you're giving a choice between him and Origi, then of course we'd pick Bobby but that doesn't detract from the fact that the guy literally does not score goals or even create chances anymore.

Agree. Fans expecting us to keep ageing players forever out of sentiment, and to buy new players with Monopoly money. Klopp typically uses small squads but we should add more and more.

Agree with this but would add 'moving Mane from the left' to the highlighted bit. He was tearing their RB apart and that's where our threat was coming from.

true, but also it takes 2 to get an assist. Our forwards aren’t covering chances. How many assists could he have had this season if the forwards were in better form?

Ive said for a while that we scored a lot from crossing but it wasn’t conventional cross from wide head in that you’d think. They were more on the break, win the ball high, cross in behind the defenders for the strikers to run onto. Salah and firm (less so mane) aren’t gonna win headers up against defenders so they need to be those crosses into space. Now I do think it’s clear we aren’t pressing as high this year (be it injury, or tactical or both) so when we we do win the ball back it’s slightly deeper, defences are set and it’s hard to play those crosses in behind

Agree, it takes two. But I do think there is a noticeable difference in his level of quality in delivery. Even some of his passing is off.

Yep, there could be a number of reasons - as IBWT says, he's not helped by those in front of him but then he's overplayed and also the defence isn't as strong as it was so he feels some responsibility to hold back.

I've said a number of times that i thought Tsimikas should have had occasional game if only to see if he was up to it .

yeah I’m less concerned about robbo. He’s been best left back in the world for 2 years, he’s allowed a dip

    interesting thought.

I would have said any dip in form means you have to be replaced and then go work on it.

But then I like winning games I suppose.

If one player is dipping in amongst a very successful team then sure maybe a weak link. But start of season he was our best player, played non stop for 3 years and is potentially suffering from not having a retailer partner to his right, as we as having forwards not finishing off the chances he is creating.
