I know the club (Klopp) has said the team only needs small adjustments in the summer, but I think thats wrong.

The team has put in 3 years of excellent work and now it all looks like they've run out of fight to do it again. Looks like its going to go back to starting to build a new team.

Good effort but you just have to give Madrid credit they dug in and made it so difficult but maybe we should have taken a chance at some point. Phillips motm superb tonight.

We have to take that energy and effort into the rest of the season.

I cannot believe that some think we played well. There was only one objective tonight: score. No one, Klopp or Real could have been bothered about approach play or the like. We simply had to overturn a deficit and we came up short because we couldn’t score at home.

    We were poor.

Imo salahs scuffed effort 2mins in says it all. That was game on.

I will say it again and again. Wijnaldum is so frustrating, never wants it, ever. Can't wait to see him gone.

Manes head is gone, he had valverde on toast there for 5mins then nothing. Just gave it away. Robertson needs to be played in not passed to statically. All mane wants to do is dribble and lose it. His heads gone.

Firminos legs are gone. Can't sprint and passing is gone

Milner was milner, 100% on the line for us. Fabinho gave all he could as well.

Taa very very frustrating, tucked in wanting to be a midfielder. Vacant right wing and real all nice and compact. I wonder sometimes about game intelligence there.

Same for salah. I want him down the middle but he's rarely there. Blame klopp there.

Finally Zidane knew what he needed and he delivered it, no risk football and an easy ride through, I get the feeling real could have poured it on at any time if they needed to.

My prediction is Chelsea will spank that lot though.

In fairness 70% of them gave a **** and tried.

I've seen worse but it's the same issues so changes needed

Utter bollox. Some humility at times is needed and Madrid were very good and we gave it a go but came up against a very good team, we played well, not as well as we can play but I have no complaints in regard to effort and desire and we've not seem that **** for a while.

The only opportunity they had was from phillips ****ing up. The lads a donkey, I can understand some sort of romance around his position, but he's absolutely shocking.

He has been shocking at times but he was excellent tonight, great defending and great passing from him, credit when due.

How do you score without approach play?

Damning stats: We have had 139 (!) shots at Anfield and scored 3. The worst in the premiership by a long long way. Did Zidane know that before the game? Did he allow our sharp shooters all the freedom they wanted?

Let’s be honest. This Real team is not one of their best. Their CBs wre missing. I think any of the other top 6 premiership teams could have scored at least a goal.

I must have watched a different lad knock it long and out of play.

Get the ball stuck between his feet.

But he can head a ball away, ive said before if he was a 1980s defender he'd be one of the best.

Tonight he wasn't put under any pressure and still managed to cough up Madrid only opportunity.

I expect I coukd look good at cb against a Madrid team who had no intent to actually attack.

Spot on. All the wonderful approach play was because Madrid just sat back and let us have the ball to the edge of their penalty area.

Bringing stats from other games into it is irrelevant. I'm sure RM are gutted to have Nacho and Militao as a CB pairing, think about that for a moment.

End of the day RM were very good, we also played well but should have done better with a couple of chances but showed desire and effort against a very good side. Take it on the chin and hope there's that kind of effort on the weekend.
