wow someone must have went in really hard on him for that to happen, this make me wonder how well he is liked, or is it a coincidence
According to other tweets it was allegedly the lad who is in charge of SAFC media. It's either very very unlucky or as you say a bit of a nasty one. Edit: I think his playing career was cut short through injury IIRC
I played 5 a side for many years after giving up 11 a side, for some years at a decent standard. However there is a reason it is classed as the most dangerous sport and that is number of injuries. Why us footballers still think we can carry on is mad, our bodies cant cope yet we think we can. I had more injuries in 5 a side, some that still cause me physical pain now, than I ever did in 11 a side. Nor saying it was 5 a side here, just saying once a competitive footballer always one and once that whistle goes we forget our age and fragilities and get stuck in. Wouldnt have swapped it for the world mind.
still to break bone you have to go in really hard, and if its just a nock around there's no need for that much aggression
I played saturday night 5 a side with same group of mates for years. None of us could ever take the aggression and competitiveness away. Fists never flew but the desire to win and play for your mates was always there. We all suffered injuries but had beers after. Mind you our wives hated it I remember once having to be driven home in my car, with my lower leg twice its normal size, by my mate who had clobbered me and him being more scared about what my missus would say
It’s possible to break a bone with an awkward fall, it doesn’t necessarily follow there was any aggression.
i know what your saying i did a load of daft things when i was young as well, it's all part of life's experience being thrown at us
i was under the impression that was for older people with brittle bones, i know after jumps there was always a few guys with broken bones, but the army chutes then were crap and you came hurtling down like a sack of spuds
I wasnt that young, but still daft I coach lots of lads now and I always say to them play for as long as you can, at whatever level you can, because once you stop you will miss it and regret not playing. When I was playing 11 a side I played directly against Kenny Burns (i barely touched the thing despite being young and fit and him retired from professional). Had a massive smile on his face and did everything for his team to win. Stuck with me seeing a 2 time european cup winner still wanting to play at my level having achieved so much. Nowt like playing the game.
Broken bones can happen from the cleanest, fairest tackle. I destroyed my ankle ligaments at the age of 22 in a 100% fair challenge where my ankle was in the wrong place at the wrong time. No fault of the other player and was a fair 50/50 which I actually won
Tbf, I bust my ankle playing 5 a side and nee one touched me. Got my feet in a pickle trying to turn and use my electrifying pace emoticon-0110-tongu) to get through on goal. Hurt like **** mind.
