Dan Walker to be 'replaced by Alex Scott' on Football Focus in historic BBC move It was unwatchable before, now even more so.
I don't get how Alex Scott is worse than Dan Walker. She's far better than the majority of pundits these days. I'm as against the BBC box ticking as anyone, the best host should get it regardless of their gender or race and that might not be Alex Scott, but I can only assume anyone who prefers Dan Walker is having wet dreams about him.
Time to stop the tv licence me thinks and wave to the bloke knocking at my door to see if i have one. Where's the classic comedy gone? Where's the sport gone. I think the last time i watched live sport on the BBC was fecking bowls with fake crowd noises was as exciting as a Burnley training session. The do gooders and Sky have completely killed it that's where it's went ! The only comedy I will see on the BBC now will be Football focus and the drovel that is Alex Scott Bring back Des Lynam I say lol
Dan Walker is a woke nobber and ever since he sat on the breakfast settee he has changed into a nobber. Good news though in the pundit front as Paddy Kenney has said we are buying Buendia. Right so that's sorted then. Alex Scott is probably one if the better women footy types, but she doesnt know the mans game and can never know the mans game. The mans game is what we watch but we now have to have her views every week on every game covered. Sorry but this isnt me being sexist, this is me refusing to watch shyt. Women demand equal pay in football but only get tens or into hundreds at best to watch ladies football. Ladies football is slow, less skills and full of mistakes, has no pace or power. Its just a slower, more boring version of mens football. I cannot ever take Alex Scotts word over Lawro’s as an example but maybe the BBC will learn when they see ratings collapse. Jermain jennas a thick little cockney kid and Alex Scott a female version of Jennas are the main 2 footy presenters on the BbC now, sorry not for me
Oh and for those who say womens football is full of skills, let me give you some facts. A schoolboys team would beat any pro womens team. Proved when USA Ladies who are world champions were beaten 5-0 by a schoolboys team full of 14 and 15 year olds. Do I want to watch that? Would I pay to go and see it? Its not real football as we know it
I'm not upset by Alex Scott. If you give her the time, she actually does know what she's talking about. Not so sure what she'll be like as a presenter, right enough, as it's her punditry that impresses me. Put it this way: who would you prefer to listen to - Alex Scott or Kris Boyd? It's that cnut Jenas I can't stand. Nothing to do with his skills, it's his unforgiveable 'spygate' rant to get us points deducted that always has, and always will piss me right off. I'd take anyone in his place. OK, perhaps not that cow that thinks you get 3 points for an early round FA cup win.
You have to separate the skill argument from what is largely a physicality thing - top teenage boy athletes are faster than elite female athletes etc. I was a national standard junior squash player once upon a time - I beat a lady ranked in the world top 10 when I was 15/16 - it was nip and tuck though! As for Alex Scott? I’m not bothered by her gender or colour but Personally I find her banal and her voice really irritating. But then I don’t have much positive to say about many male pundits either. some people seem to rate her, but one things for sure, she’s omnipresent- the bbc do this with presenters, and other broadcasters too. They get research that says presenter ‘x’ is popular... before you know it they’re doing match of the day 1 minute and presenting the news the next. Then the research says everybody’s sick of the sight of them and they put them out to pasture. Adrian chiles anyone?
I agree with Milky because Alex Scott is one of the best lady footy presenter/pundits. But the facts are shes female and black and the only reason she got the gig which is wrong. Positive discrimination is still discrimination. Maybe the BbC should be leading on promoting womens Super League football and show live games every week. What better way to promote this form if football, and better than infringing on my rights to watch real football discussed with real players. i also got peed off a few years ago playing golf on the Algarve. We played the Victoria course which is used every year for the MENS Portuguese Open. We played off the Yellow tees and behind us was the white tee and beyond that was the Pro teen which seemed to be in a different county. In front of the yellows where we played from there was the Purple tee which was for male juniors and in front of that was the Lady Pro tee. Yes the lady professionals were teeing off 50 yards in front of the amateur mens or even the male juniors.
I'd have given it someone like Ian Wright. He has a good personality for TV and has hosted his own chat shows before and has decent knowledge of the game. Surely the perfect presenter for the men's game. Alex Scott is OK but I will never forgive her for interrupting Jamie Redknapp and Ruud Gullit when they were talking about dressing room morale. WTF does she know about men's dressing rooms? I wouldn't dare have an opinion on a women's changing area. I'm banned from entering them so wouldn't have the first clue what goes on in there.
Evening all Totally agree with that, best most knowledgeable, and most importantly is not biased in his opinions, says how he sees it, impressed me again just recently on saturday night motd, Lineker/shearer not really willing to acknowledge what a great win for Leeds that was, but wrighty pipes in with something like hey guys what we saw their was a Leeds defensive masterclass, and proceeded to explain it to them & the tv audience, also noted how Lineker or Shearer never expanded on that, but moved swiftly on.
They also failed to mention that little **** Sterling clearly stamping on 2 occasions. No doubt if he was white & playing for Leeds, he'd have been crucified ad nauseam.
At the risk of prolonging this, if they are talking about dressing room morale, why would there necessarily be a difference between male and female morale?
Played that course in 2018 a couple of weeks before the Portugal Masters, so they were letting the rough grow. Needless to say it didn't go too well!
I had a mare on it as Lee Westwood had just won the Open on the Sunday and we played it Tuesday. We had a great lunch, day done
I think the issue most of us have is the selection process, they need more women, gay or straight and BAME faces in the media, any media, so when Alex Scott takes over FF we see that they've ticked 2 boxes. My issue is that we aren't sure she's earned it. Take the Grand National winner. From what I've heard, and I don't follow racing, she has made it in a man's world. Good luck to her! My worry is that in a few years time, if it continues on this trajectory, we will see quotas in Premier League squads to make sure they're diverse enough. We already have a large contingent of BAME players so maybe there will need to be some women in the squad.... No one in the USA protests that the NBA is about 75% black players.
