No. The only hope is to win a few games at the end of the season and go into the play offs in a bit of form. Oh and pick the same ****ing team and formation every week.
It's never over until it's over. There's still time and games for twists and turns. Got to fight until the bitter end.
As has been said LJ has to earn his corn over the next six matches. I know our new owner has intimated that plans, are afoot no matter which league were in next season and I think it was a mistake to mention transfer funds if anyone at the club actually quoted the £60m figure. we never do it the easy way so I'm not writing them off yet, last night's other results give me some hope. If it's playoffs then I'm away on holiday in Scotland and back for the final so will be trying not to let it spoil my time away. HTL.
Have a good holiday mate everyone of us deserves one after this season, saying that it’s not over yet.
Dunno about that like mate, he's turned it around from when he took over from Parky. As much as I relish promotion, I would settle for another season in this league now that we have a clearer vision and the clowns have been sent home. Rome wasn't built in a day.
I didnt see last nights result coming even after getting beat on Saturday, we could have won quite easily on Saturday if we took our chances but last night was a right kick in the balls. The defence has been largely tight with Power, Sanderson, Onien & McFadzean, we all know McFadzean isnt the greatest but collectively they have done well. So to put Wright & Hume in from the start was a mistake in my opinion, both are clearly lacking match fitness and it looked pretty obvious that it affected us defensively. His tinkering in central midfield is really starting to piss me off as well, put 2 in and leave them to form a partnership, Leadbitter is our best central midfielder Ive said it time and again, he keeps things ticking over, he keeps it safe and he provides the defence with a great outlet for playing out from the back, he calms things down and doesnt panic. Its going to be very difficult now for automatic promotion but the players have proved they are capable of winning games and hopefully the manager learns from his mistakes.
We're a lot closer than we looked like we were going to be when Parkinson left. Also we're not sweating financially any more so there's less pressure. Going up this year might be too early for us after the continued turmoil of the last couple of years. We'd struggle. No excuses will be acceptable next year mind. We need an injection of grit and enthusiasm. Leaders, not just old pros.
When Parky was replaced by LJ, I had the same feeling about this season, I thought the best we could do was rebuild in a positive manner and could force our way into the play-offs, so we hit Wembley running. In some ways LJ has become a victim of his own success, getting us into an unimaginable situation where we looked in with a real chance of breaking into the top two automatic spots. This has been dented by the last three results and now we are dreading the play-offs we would have welcomed when he took over. I think we need to cool off and give the players a chance to reset and go again, if we can win a few games convincingly in the league games that are left, we stand a great chance of doing well again at Wembley this season. For me I would try and mould a side on similar lines to the one that started against Wigan with the addition of Connor Mclaughlan asp and the continued acclimatisation of Hume and Bailey-Wright. The midfield is the weak link and I would like to see a settled unit before we reach the play-offs. Imo. we still have the players capable of getting us up this season which would be remarkable considering where we were a few short months ago. If LJ can find places in the match day squad for one or two of the younger players that have in my opinion been overlooked this season, all the better. The one good move of late was the extending of Diamonds contract, I would like to see similar treatment for others, this would be a possitive sign to all, that long term we are heading in the right direction. OaU
We need to spend big money irrespective of when we go up. We HAD to go up this year and we’ve blown it.
I’m really not. But there’ll always be something stopping us going up. Look at last season. We finished above Wycombe yet they ended up going up.
I agree that if the good run to 3rd place had started 5 games later and ran until the end of the season, we would all be massively confident of doing the business in the Play-Offs. It hasn't, but any team who can go 14 unbeaten can go again. Unless others **** up, I don't see us going up automatically now, but there's time to get a few more wins under our belts before the semi-finals. There is one advantage we've got over the rest of the other play off contenders, that is we'll probably qualify for the play offs quite soon, the rest will be battling it out with others right up to the end, so won't have time to rest players. We could rest a few of our key players who haven't had a break, to freshen them up for the play offs, and give any of them with knocks full time to recover.
No we don't, the club is hardly going to go to the wall, the ownership is in place and the backroom workings continue to progress. Bit of a drama queen aren't ya.
Each year gets more difficult. Could still have 2 of Sheff Wed, Birmingham and Huddersfield come down.
