Yeah he certainly changed the game with those substitutions, in Wigan’s favour. After the substitutions they had about 3 1on1s, whereas we didn’t register a shot on target.
I'm absolutely gutted. Completely unsurprised, but gutted all the same 5 points from our last 6 games in 2019 2 points from our last 4 games in 2020 1 point from 3 vital games this season ****ing heart-breaking
They will have been working on the system in the build up to the game, so its not like its sprung on them half an hour before kick off. That said, I think his tactical changes need to be bit a more rooted in a system that seamlessly transitions from one to another. If you think about the great Ajax and Barcelona teams, they could morph from 433 to 343 to 352 fairly easily without even changing players. The change from 4222 to 4231 is a bit more of a lurch in my opinion.
On current form we'll be absolute sitting ducks in the play offs - the likes of Blackpool or Charlton will tear us to shreds. ****ing criminal
Maybe so, but like I said originally, at least he tried something. Do or die. Its better than just rolling over.
Last two games yes, but this time it was more an admission that the players weren't doing their jobs. I still admit things needed changing though don't know what he was expecting Grant to do, we needed to chase the game not close it down!
He makes football sound like a science. It’s a basic game, I bet he confuses the **** out of the players.
Fair enough. I thought Grant might have given us a bit more composure in midfield. Although I'm not sure he's the change I would have gone for in the circumstances
Definitely. I think he always speaks very well and is clear and concise in what he's trying to get across. He's perhaps a bit too honest sometimes.
Nope. My point is that his tactics were working fine. Don’t think he said “stop playing like that” surely? I just think the players, despite having that steel not long ago, have now turned to jelly for some reason. Look like the “business end” is what’s getting to them. Don’t think it’s anything to do with tactics. I also don’t think that Johnson asked them to defend the way they did at the 2 corners which, ultimately, cost us the game tonight
