With it looking likely that Jenkinson will start at RB on the weekend, I wanted to find out people's thoughts on the lad. On other boards I visit, they slate him all the time, but I don't think he's that bad. He was thrown in at the deep end vs Man Utd, with very little help from other players, who were just as bad. Making the jump from league 1 to the prem over the summer is very difficult, and Wenger must see something in him otherwise he wouldn't play. Apart from the Man Utd game, he has done very well in my opinion and I think he will continue to improve, eventually taking over from Sagna at RB, when Bac's time is done at Arsenal (probably when he hits 30...). Anyways, this will probably be our line-up for Saturday: ------------------Szczesny------------------ --Jenkinson--Koscielny--Mertesacker--Gibbs-- -------------------Song-------------------- ------------Ramsey-----Arteta-------------- -Walcott--------------------------Gervinho- ------------------v.Persie------------------ Now I would love to see someone other than Ramsey in that position, but lets face it, that won't happen unless he gets injured, and then we really would be screwed...
Ramsey is having a poor season so far. I'd like to see Diaby given a try, or Rosicky. Wilshere is badly needed back. Jenkinson is the only choice. He needs help though from Theo, who should play for 90mins as he can always bomb back to help Jenkinson. Taking him off against Spurs set Bale free, and Jenkinson was in a lotta trouble. I'd like to see Oxo given a chance, but I don't think it will come any time soon from a starting point with Sagna out. That would leave the Right Side too vulnerable with 2 very inexperienced players. A real shame because he's on scintilating form at the moment.
think diaby may be injured. will have to wait for wenger's press conference to find out tho. was meant to be back after internationals but you never really know... could oxo play in the middle of a 4231? behind vp? he has a good range of passing. we would be lethal on the counter then...
Is that clown Diaby ever fit! seems to be injured permanently... OXO could play anywhere within reason, terrific talent, doubt he will get a nod in that position over Arshavin who incidentally had another great game for Russia, seems to be playing very well at International level from what I have seen.
The guy looks okay to me, its not his fault he isnt ready yet. How can you expect a kid to go from playing few games for Charton towards the end of last season to be playing against the like of UTD and maintain someone like Young? What an idiotic point of view, give him time and stop beign so impatient
You paid about £1mill for him and that looks about the right price for the level he's at for the time being. He's unlucky to be thrown in the deep end like this as he doesn't look ready at all.
He's actually done well in the games he's played in. Baptism of fire - certainly. But he's proved he can play in that position, although he will need whoever is ahead of him to get back and defend too.
Is there anything to be said for playing Coquelin in the holding role and pushing Song further forward in place of Ramsey? Song has already shown his attacking qualities and directness this season whereas Ramsey has been below par in my opinion. Song has a few assists to his name already this season as well.
------------------Szczesny------------------ --Jenkinson--Koscielny--Mertesacker--Gibbs-- -------------------Song-------------------- ------------OXO-----Gervinho-------------- -Walcott--------------------------Myachi- ------------------v.Persie------------------ Just go for pure pace!
Koscielny was the right back for a long time before he started to play in CD, so if Jenkinson chokes it may be Kos-Mert-TV-Gibbs, when Vermaelen is back.
What's the point in even trying to judge Jenkinson? Thrown into a team that can't defend for toffee before he was ready, hardly an opportunity to shine is it? Not that that would stop some of the pessimistic gits around here!
I know a few Charlton fans who were surprised we came in for him in the Summer. As others have said he's not ready, he's been chucked in and struggled in a defence that struggled, I doubt the plan was for him to have played any 1st team football this season but injurys/suspension etc haven't been kind. If you look at the potential offered by Jenk and Oxo they are worlds apart, I may be wrong but I don't see him as ever being more than a squad player, but for £1m we probably shouldn't expect anything more....
