Morning all..a rare dip in for a midweek bet.

Southwell 4.20pm Gentle Rose 12/1 each way. Dont know much about the horse but a mate of mine knows one of the owners that has a share in her.

The vibes are pretty good, we have been told the trip will suit unlike previous runs and they feel she is ready and will run a very good race today.

At the price it's worth a bet..

    Good luck all! :emoticon-0167-beer:

Harry Skelton and Brian Hughes are really going after each other today... Out of their 13 combined rides at Southwell today, 9 of them are either favourite or second favourite, with basically 2 out of the other 4 being close enough...

Going to go against both of them in the 3:10 though. Wicked West fell on his first start at the final hurdle, wouldn't have won but probably easily stayed on for a close enough second. The horse that won that race has gone on to to finish 1261 in his next four starts. Wicked West was well beaten by a 2/11 shot in his next race. He was coming with a late charge on the favourite but again his jumping let him down at the last and he finished a good 5L behind. If he can sort out these final hurdle blunders he could be a decent horse for this level. A bit worried about Kensington Art but hopefully Wicked West can get the job done at 5-1...

Willy Nilly could be anything... Thrown into the Scottish Triumph Hurdle on his very first hurdles start, didn't run well and was pulled up but has since had wind surgery and wears a tongue-tie. I might have a £1 E/W on him just for interest to see how he runs but his next race may be the one to back him in if he shows a good level of improvement today.

I did Arturo Toscanini in the Feilden Stakes at 6/1. The horse who was 5th to him dotted up in a Handicap on Sunday and it just seemed too big a price for an Aidan O'Brien horse in an open looking race. The colt looked a bit green on his only start and he did well to score on heavy ground first time up. As a son of Galileo he should be open to tons of improvement and the trainer will surely have had ample choice for this 9F Listed contest.

Royal Champion is in the "Could be anything" category but looks way short at 9/4 in an open looking race. Three winners came from his maiden win but all at pretty low level. Open to tons of improvement and entered in the Derby, I doubt he would have the stamina in the pedigree for 12F and I would see him being a better fit for the French Derby. Secret Protector is at a decent level but is more exposed looking than some of them here. The same applies to New Treasure for John Gosden and son, so he doesn't look a Golden Horn in the making. Fancy Man is highest rated on official figures and he is entered in the 2000 Guineas but this looks an odd starting point for then dropping back a furlong for the Classic. The Hannon colt looks underestimated at 9/1. Appleby also runs Highland Avenue along with Secret Protector and the grey son of Dubawi is strong in the betting. Beaten at 1/4 Fav on debut, he then landed races at odds on the next twice but the form of his latest race is stinking to my eyes and three runs at Kempton don't inspire me, especially when he beat a 200/1 shot home last time. I think he is a lay at 9/2.

The Varian stable is in form but the odds are just too short for me on Royal Champion.

    1. Arturo Toscanini
    2. Royal Champion
    3. Fancy Man

3.20 Newmarket Arturo Toscanini 6/1 was my pick on Sunday night.

Arturo Toscanini was awful. He looked very slow there today and there is no way he will be heading to the Derby unless it is in Somalia or somewhere similar. Royal Champion won't be in the Derby either and he seemed awful value to me on his actual form coming into today. The Godolphin pair fought it out and were clear of the rest. I thought Highland Avenue was poor value today as a horse rated 95 but he was a fair and square winner. To be frank, these looked handicap level colts and Richard Hannon will surely be concerned for Chindit, with Fancy Man looking miles away from Guineas class today.

The Godolphin team will surely be feeling more confident for Master Of The Seas in the Craven on Thursday, where he is 5/2 favourite for that race, with fellow Godolphin colt La Barrosa second favourite. Aidan on the other hand will have been disappointed regarding the vibes for Khartoum and Sandhurst, who have similar profiles and need to step up a fair bit in the Craven.

Master Of The Seas pulled very hard on his return to action in Meydan and was a bit disappointing but I expect a much better effort on Thursday. I am sure if he had not run in Dubai, he would be very short in the Craven.

Seemed like she injured herself but write up in RP states post race examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Mutasaabeq was very impressive today, despite running green. Never going to get much further than 9f but how high can he go? Will be interesting where Hills next places him.

Report back was jockey thought she’d “gone wrong” and broken a leg or something severe, so he pulled up immediately. She was fine when he brought her back and got off - was questioning himself...whatever the score it was unlikely she would have beaten the winner.
