Perhaps you should send some Old Peculiar to Yorkie to calm his nerves, it certainly calms mine when I have one
Great beer ! Sadly as a diabetic I can only remember it fondly while getting slightly more tipsy in the red wine!
Not a bad drop that either. I first encountered it during an 'enforced' six month holiday back here, back in the 70s. To fund my stay, I worked in the goods office at Harrogate station for 3/4 months - and someone there recommended a trip to Theakston's brewery in Masham. I found that they sold little plastic kegs (polypins I think they called them) of varying sizes. During that stay, I used to play Rugby League in London - and once took two 5 gallon ones of Old Peculiar down with me for post-match celebrations. From memory it proved so popular that I only managed to get two pints of it myself.
I celebrated with a bottle of Chiltern Brewery Imperial Stout, coming in at 10%. Drinks like a 6%er making it dangerously quaffable. Vanilla, molasses and chocolate are the three notes I get, and it really isn't too sweet like so many beers of this strength.
We had some interesting tactics last night, definitely chose to play long much more than normal and it worked with both goals and other chances. Sarr 1st half standout obviously Sanchez the 2nd half standout
Sarr was clinical in the first half, Sanchez steadied the midfield in the second, Sierralta plugged his brain back in, Cathcart was an improvement on WTE, and yet another clean sheet (just) so all was right in our favourite corner of SW Hertfordshire.
Some worrying performances from some though - in particular the normally reliable Sema, Chalobah and Pedro. Hopefully not to be repeated...
Are we like Millwall No one likes us but we dont care It looks as tho Sarr has decided to take the Championship by the throat and we need five more top performances from him Problem with Pedro is he gets kicked and pulled back non stop without any action, gets frustrated and goes in too hard
Maybe a bit lucky seeing as today a Man U player pulled up for a foul after brushing the fact of a Spurs player (Son) before the former scored. To his credit the Reading player didn't start screaming and rolling around which probably helped! And no VAR in the ref's ear either.
Having watched that game live Son should have been booked for diving and then a second yellow for squealing and rolling around like a stuck pig and then banned for the rest of the season for bringing the game into disrepute At one time he was the Spurs player I would have wanted to poach but now even Success has more about him as a player and a man Pedro does come close to overstepping the mark but when he is brought down or fouled he just gets up and gets on with the game but sometimes looks to get his own back Deeney for all his minor faults is a perfect example of that
