In general I thought we played well, and should have won the game.

We had 2-3 great chances in the first half, and their keeper pulled off some world class stops, and I don’t say that lightly.

I thought Burge showed his true colours today and once again cost us 3 points. He’s been ok of late, but has barely had anything to do.

I think that’s 4-5 games where he’s directly cost us the points.

    - Today
    - Bristol rovers at home
    - Hull at home

Thats 3 off the top of my head.

Amazed Johnson didn’t sign a keeper in jan.

The first goal changed the game, a goal that should never have gone in. Scowens pathetic clearance was also a major factor.

Thought wyke was decent, even though he missed a couple, made some good runs.

If it’s the playoffs, so be it.

I agree with some of your analysis and disagree with other bits, but we go go again. Plenty to play for!

I agree that successful teams are usually those that play together game after game, but to be fair I think LJ is just trying to rest players because of the busy schedule, to keep injuries to a minimum.

Aye I'd say it was inevitable that we'd have to rest players with the amount of games and today was maybe a result of that rather than Johnson tinkering for the sake of it. We've got a great squad for this level and we should be able to rotate players successfully.

I agree somewhat, but it should be strongest players for strongest teams, while LJ has managed to get away with the tactic he uses on weaker teams, i find this may have lured him into a false sense of security, the lower level skill players we have seem to raise their game against lower opposition, when allowed to complete good moves against them. however when playing against teams of a higher standard the faults shine through, as happened today with a lot of our supporters having a pop at the same 4 to 5 players.

We are so close to the finish line, that all matches from now should be played with our strongest team, we must achieve our goal. By all means play the lower standard players against the weaker teams and if we need a goal, bring on the rested stars for the last 30 mins.

Burge could have done better today for sure but he has done a lot of good work recently, I think he's ok at this level.

Their keeper playing like peak Schmeichel was the difference, I doubt the bugger does that every week. He made a couple of amazing saves and ultimately that was the difference so I agree it was close and we were unlucky. Wyke did ok for me.

Sanderson and Jones wouldn’t stay, McGeady a year older, Leadbitter a year older .... and I fear we would put too much faith in Charlie Wyke who, let’s face it, is still pretty awful. New striker needed along with 2 pacy wingers, decent centre back, decent goalie. Make signings in those areas and we may challenge again next season.

The players can’t handle the big occasions and our history shows we always fail in them. It’ll just prolong the heartache. Would rather finish 7th.

Really? Not the ones I’ve spoken to. Funny how ‘these things” appear after one defeat! Give it a week there’ll be a “Johnson out” thread no doubt

A while ago I read through a long thread about Johnson on the Bristol forum and my take was that the people for him were basing their opinion on facts and the people against seemed to have an issue to do with his family and the club. At the very worst opinion was split evenly.

I think if you look at his record with them, taking into account league position and money spent then objectively he did a very solid job.

I’m not convinced tbh, our good form owes to having players who shouldn’t really be at this level like McGeady, Jones, Sanderson ... and Wyke having a freakish run of form. I couldn’t tell you an alternative though. We will see what happens I guess.
