Why the feck do they have somebody to sing the National Anthem, only for them to bastardise it completely <steam> <steam>
If they don't know how the National Anthem goes, then they shouldn't be allowed to sing it <steam> <steam>

Couldn't agree more Reebs. If I had done that, the amount of times I played it, I would have been locked up.

Cloth Crap but delighted for Rachel Blackmore finally proving that women can do it. A million miles on from the first female jockey to give it a try. A true professional.

Only thing worse that Cloth Crap was how long it took the commentator to tipple that the hot favourite had been pulled up. The horse seemed to puncture very quickly. Burrows Saint didn't quite last to my eyes.

Well done to anyone who collected on a historic race. Sports Personality Of The Year surely?

Made a bad mistake about 2 fences before. Seemed to come down very steeply and had no momentum.

To me, that gave me as much excitement as watching the Midlands national a few weeks back, just seems like another long distance race now and that aura surrounding the Grand National and the toughness of it has been lost. Not sure if everyone feels the same, maybe I'm just becoming ever more cynical.

Well done Rachel Blackmore once again, and Minella Times, who ran that at his leisure.

I had a non sporting mate call me to ask me to put a quid ew on Jett as he has a whippet of the same name (and spelling), got 100-1 with 6 places, he was jumping up and down 2 out thinking he was in the money! Jett did finish 8th - a lot better than any of mine!

one of my best National days for years!
Got the 3rd and 5th each way and ended up putting my My Drogo winnings on Minella Times!
Also just heard that Vieux Lion Rouge managed to get up - probably the best news of all <cheers>

The race is dominated by the professional operations these days, it has unfortunately lost its romance. The racing purists want the best horses running in it - which is fair enough - but that lessens the appeal for the fiver e/w punters who have a go each year - and that is surely what made the National great?. Just as we'll wait many years for another Norton's Coin winning a Gold Cup, we will wait a while to see another Mon Mome or Auroras Encore winning the National.

Without wanting to sound in any way negative, there also needs to be a better process for handicapping the Irish horses when they come across for UK races - they have taken the piss this season. Fair play to them though <applause>
