Yeah, suppose the additions of 1,2 4 series and all the X versions mean there are loads about.

Most car sales now are SUVs I believe. I think generally the most BMWs I see around and about are X series variants. Used to be 1 series but I haven't been noticing so many recently

I’ve had a few BMW’s and a couple of Merc, and the BMW’s have been far nicer to sit inside and drive, although the Mercedes tended to break less often.

When I’m done having fun with my Ford I’ll almost certainly go back to BMW.

The newest Merc interiors are lovely though. BMW's latest update to their inside is a big positive but I'd still put Merc slightly ahead there in the design, trim and looks categories, although BMW are getting closer. As far as what it feels like to actually sit in it the BMWs win there. Drive and ride wise Beemer still easily take it. Reliability on my previous BMWs was bulletproof, never had any issues. This one I've got now has been a pain in the backside recently, or maybe that was more to do with the BMW service place. Mercs very very reliable cars though. Audis I'm not sure about, I had one for a short while and binned it as it felt like a VW, not a surprise since they share many of the same platforms.

I had a Leon Cupra and enjoyed the DSG box in that, it was a slick car with quality VW build. It got robbed and I didn’t go back for another so that tells you everything, it was good in parts but just didn’t offer enough fun overall.

Never been a fan of Mercedes interior away from The S Class either, that A Class looks like a kid designed it, but I guess that’s personal preference. Inside of my car looks basic as **** but it’s a rally car built for the road so interior is a bucket seat and a steering wheel, the rest isn’t important!

Thought the model 3 performance was the fastest Tesla? I’ve not got the performance, just the long range one. Apparently baby computer geek can turn a normal Tesla into a performance one as it is just a software rewrite. Though it voids your warranty if you do it.

I think they ruined the 1 series with that massive grille and the fact it’s front wheel drive.

Nah the S is defo the fastest model, then the Plaid S annihilates pretty much anything on the road.

Upgrading cars usually requires many mechanical parts being changed along with the software maps, but I’m not sure how that works with EV’s.

I’ve just had my engine forged and my engine is good for 900hp but the various upgrades would cost something like 40k and the end product would be practically un-drive-able. Some cars are better suited for hyper-performance, clearly the Tesla’s can do it comfortably.

Model S performance is the fastest production car. 0-60 2.4 seconds. Madness.

    Plaid S 1.99 seconds.

Not that you’ll ever get the conditions in the real world to achieve that, but still. Crazy.

Mine’s officially 4.5s but probably closer to 5.2s in the real world.

That’s got to be similar to a formula 1 car?

The only thing I can think of that I’ve been on which moves that fast is Rita Queen of Speed at Alton Towers, and it’s something like 2.4s, and it felt stupidly fast, like being catapulted by a rocket. Shaving another half a second of that cannot be legal on our roads.

I think there was a fair few group B rally cars that achieved sub-2 seconds when tuned properly as well. As they rarely needed top end power so it all come at the front in the 0-100mph range. Not that they’re road legal.

I’m almost certain Lancia or some tuning company made an S4 that raced a Bugatti Veyron and beat it, and the Lancia was on gravel. Can’t find the video though.

Tel can i ask what year it was as i'm looking to to replace my now 11 year old Polo with probably a Golf estate but could do with some real life version of the newer DSG box matched to a newer FSI / TSI engine .

Mine was 2019 (69) mate, got it brand new. It was a lovely car to be honest, pace for days and just felt really solid. The engine was the exact same engine as the Golf GTI. Couldn’t fault it as a daily.
