Any need? Disgraceful time to make a joke.

    RIP Philip.

    It's clearly not a joke.

It's a comment on the predicament they're in and the awkwardness of the situation.

Having distanced themselves from the Royal Family, and having made some serious accusations, they now have to decide on how best to respond.

Do they come back for the funeral as a couple or does Harry attend without his wife who was only too happy to have the fairy tale wedding at Windsor Castle, ironically where the Duke passed away.

How will he feel about calling his Grandmother and will she take the call ...

... as I said, not a joke in any way.

For a man who stepped out of the Royal Limelight I'm sure Her Majesty will honour his wishes to be buried in a private service - especially given all these who have had to bury relatives during Covid restrictions.

After all, HM QE is all about service to her country and won't put her people at increased risk by going against Covid restrictions. Plus, it will be a good excuse not to have Meganmouth come over.

RIP Prince Phillip and condolences to Her Majesty.

    Wow...touchy touchy.
It's obviously very sad that a human being has lost his life but he has lived a very good and privileged life.
It's amazing how many people are suddenly royalists.

    Fixed it for you!

Seriously though, after their behaviour the funeral will be very interesting. Will she attend? Probably not saying that she's pregnant (not that it stopped her flying to New York on a private jet for a baby shower just before the kid was born), but all eyes will be on ginge.

a mate of mines older brother took up carriage driving in retirement and got to know Philip quite well on the 'circuit', said he was just a normal friendly bloke in that environment. The Dukes best mate in the driving circle was apparently a huge Irish 'pikey' was how he was described to me, rough as bulls lugs but Philip and he spent loads of time together as proper mates with a love of that sport. RIP Phil the Greek.

Not unexpected but still very sad for the Queen.

Only 30 at the funeral is going to be a bit of a challenge.

Met him a few years back at a Garden Party. He was a character alright, even at that age. Proper windup merchant with a twinkle in his eye. I doubt we'll see his like again.

Not a perfect human being by any means, but I think we'll find out over the coming weeks he wasn't quite the racist ogre it's fashionable to portray him as.

    Canny knock mind.

No royalist myself, but I've always understood that to be a minority view.

RIP , he did everything his way that bloke.

I like some others are far from being a royalist.

There will be quite naturally sadness in any family when the father/grandfather etc. passes.

Speaking only personally, l feel more sadness for folk who died far to early because of the pandemic.

He had a long and priveleged existence. Can’t understand the blanket media coverage.
    Neverthelesd RIP PHILLIP.

An iconic public figure. A huge landmark in the British cultural landscape. Whether you are a monarchist or not, this is a significant historic event.
Although criticised for some of his gaffes, he did make a solid contribution to British society.
