Chin up mate. The effort involved in turning the season around and ensuring our Championship status was bound to take it's toll. Mick worked wonders in even getting half a dozen vital results with a lacklustre, demotivated and rudderless group. In fairness to him, he's had to deal with players that only know one way to play and trying to change them could have been disasterous. I would agree with most on here now though, that he should now use the rest of the season to blood some youngsters and peripherals. Never mind the results now, just give them half a dozen games with an emphasis on playing some football.
Appreciate the sentiment Clingo but honestly I’m lost for words. I didn’t expect to win today, but not such an abject couldn’t pass wind type of display. I am genuinely fearful of next season without a major overhaul of players. Just can’t see the stubborn old fella changing his style of playing though. I do expect a reaction v Blackburn but then it’ll be watching through fingers next week at Reading and Brentford who’ll just pass around our static midfield all game long and pierce our fragile defence.
Kieffer Moore: Striker is 'knackered' says Cardiff boss Mick McCarthy Not sure why Mick is surprised. He's responsible for his work load.
Early in Mick's tenure we had game where we were up a couple goals with the opportunity to hook Moore 20 mins earlier but he never was. That sits with the manager.
All he can say is he tried but couldn’t get Rhodes or Jerome to come here in January. He inherited Watters. Play him and Harris in a 4-4-2.
A 4-4-2 is the way to go with Wilson at No. 10. Now that we're almost certain to be playing Championship football next season, the only justifiable reason why he shouldn't start Wilson would be that he won't be with us. Leaving him out of the starting lineup at Sheffield when there was still a reasonable shot at it was a mistake. He can look a bit of a primadonna on times, but he has the quality and needs pacy players to play off him.
Last chance saloon maybe, but with Reading at Watford tonight Mick must go all out to beat Blackburn tomorrow. If Watford can do a job on them and we win our game, we'll be 3 points nearer Reading when we play them up there next week............ Of course there's alway Bournemouth who've got to blow up as well ..........or even Swansea might lose another 4 on the trot.......
Well at least Reading lost last night - but can we win today to stay in there?......... What we need now is for Robbie's boys to spring a shock down on the south coast.
If we start next season with Vaulks Pack Ralls and Bacuna as our CM picks then we’re in for a cr@p season.
Can’t see much tinkering with the team tonight. Brentford will likely be more difficult to defend against than an overrated Reading team. Whilst I’d like to see to see some youngsters get a game they’ll be more likely to be given a go versus Wycombe.
Agreed Ninian. I don't think it would be wise to start the likes of Colwill and Evans tonight where a stuffing could knock their confidence but the last 3 games could provide real opportunities.
MM has said Sang us iut for the rest of the season with a toe ligament injury. Good job Desmond is fit again so he and Ng should be our full backs tomorrow. Mozza out tomorrow but back in training so should be good for the last 2 games. In view of our lack of defenders I wouldn't be surprised if he was on the bench v Wycombe.
Everyone we've played back there has been out injured at some time this season. Tutu, Bennett, Bagan, Ralls, Ng and now Sang - oh I forgot, we've still got Bacuna though.......
I heard that’s the first time this season we’ve won at home scoring less than 3 goals. Whatever happened to the grinding it out 1-0’s eh
