True - you lot get dizzy if you look up for too long without a sip of Bovril. Except Elf's - he has no choice.
I'm not expecting anyone to care lardi, I'm just pointing out that the easiest run to get to a cup final was followed by the easiest runs to a semi and two quarter finals, you can continue to fall at the first hurdle to the likes of Northwich Victoria while we will continue to have a real go in the cup.
Our Cup record is a horror story. Bowyer even went out to deliberately lose, but even before that it's been shockin, juss shockin. We've had a lot of easy draws as well, but managed to lose to a series of lower league teams, even when we were in the Premier League. Personally I've given up on us as a Cup team, only watch to see how the kids do.
Why would Bowyer go out to lose, when it comes naturally to us?? Still, I actually caught a couple of FA Cupo matches as I was back in the UK when we played, and saw a magnificent 3-1 win over Truro with probably the strangest atmousphere I've ever seen at the Valley, plus a horror show 1-0 defeat home to Huddersfield when we were reduced to ten men in the first half. I'm actually one of those who likes the cup, and dislike our perpetual disdain for progressing in it, but these days it's all about promotion
One of my in-laws came up for the Truro game (He lives in Truro) ,with some friends, and we had a good drink in the Rose of Denmark pre-match. I don't like the assumption that getting knocked out of the Cup early on improves league performances, especially now that there are no replays. You'll hardly find any enthusiasm for the Cup on any forum though, it has lost something over recent years.
Luckily I had friends in Manchester who took pity upon me and let me stay there. Which resulted in more nice beer. Thankfully I can’t remember much of the game itself.
I was able to watch that live on TV in Spain. I spent the week explaining to my wife that from 2pm til 4pm I was booking the telly to watch Charlton (and at 1.50 true to form, she sudddenly tried to put a telly-tubby CD on for my daughter ) and for what, a game we were awfull from start to finish, and even worse, after we went behind and you might think the bigger team would go over to attack, we were squeezed out by Northwich, who looked much the more likely to score in the closing minutes). I saw a similar cup preformance at Upton Park, midweek against Walsall, who performed the same feat of outplaying us, scoring a goal and closing out in style. Sometimes, I think it would be more fun to just not like football.
I’ve been told my bemused face appeared on the screen. I was behind one of the goals. I think it was on ITV
Elfs, when we get visitors it's nice to offer them a cup of tea or something. You can't keep showing your arse to everyone
