I love him. Absolute baller. Gets unnecessary stick because he doesn’t track back to the 6 yard line, but who cares when he‘s tearing defences to shreds.

Interesting that our form picked up dramatically after he left, according to the article, even if Parky wasn't good enough to maintain it. That would seem to support a certain version of events.

I don't KNOW why Parkinson fell out with him.

I only Know what I read in The Press, and I'm aware that not all press reports should be believed.

But McGeady claims that he was shooting his mouth off at the Team in general after what he considered to be a gutless, lack-lustre perfomace.
He pointed out that had Kevin Ball done that, he would have been aplauded.
But Parkinso resented it and that was it.

I was unhappy that he was shipped out.
I like to see skillful players perform.
But I can see that there is only one Manager and how he goes about his business is up to him.
Till he gets it wrong and is sacked.

    HOWEVER.
I wonder if we might have been a Championship Club this Season had Parkinson been able to handle him last Season the way Lee Johnson has this Season.
    OR, put it another way.
Would we be where we currently are in the League had McGeady not been playing for us?

A manager's job is to manage. Many football people can get a couple of coaches together, decide roughly how you'd like the team to play, pick the team and do the interviews.

Managing is just that . A good manager will have even well known awkward squad lads pulling for the team. Look at Bellamy, a mentalist if ever there was one, trouble every where he went, apart from when he was under Robson with that lot.

Parkinson probably couldn't handle the fact that McGeady had been involved in much higher levels of football than he had been himself.

If Mcgeady and Sanderson had been regular players all season, it is inconceivable that we would not be much better off. 6-8 points would be my guess.

sometimes good to read these threads back...

not too sure what i thought at the time (i could try to pretend i was camp mcgeady all along but not in my nature) i think i was with the majority thought of if he is disrupting the squad then best left out but i think we could all see something was missing, looking back, it seems the rest of the squad picked up when LJ came in and reinstated mcgeady.

some of the comments were pretty much spot on as well at the time 'too many tricks' etc so maybe LJ has managed that part of his game better as well, whatever you said at the time just hold your hand up and admit he has proved us wrong.

We should have a thread about Sanderson aswell.
Its absolutely disgraceful that Flanagan used to get picked ahead of him.

wolfy said the same thing mate and we all know what happend, from the day you put the thread up i was for it ,once i heard McGeady's side of the story thanks for that ,after reading it i believed him, and boy he has been an inspiration since being back in the squad, I value Nads info on players as he is well up with whos good and whos not, and always remember the article where he said best player in the division, and remember he took a pay drop to come,Parkinson has a lot to answer for, and the knobs who chose him.

Dare I say it, but the "too many tricks" comments....i think that is starting to creep back in again.

All i have noticed mate is his stats goal assists , his goals contribution like his superb one the free kick goal, and where we would be without him, he does have the skill to dazzle some with his moves, so long as he doesn't overdo it, and again i think you're right ,but a hard choice where to draw the line for LJ as he must be really enjoying his confidence and game to be doing it, and he is taking pot shots now as well.

As long as his tricks are done at the top of the pitch... not in front of our goal...fine.
I have in the past heavily criticised Mcgeady for his defensive liabilities. He has improved lately... well done LJ... but you would still prefer him up top, Wyke is good at defensive headers etc.. so leave Mcgeady up the pitch when the opposition has corners.
Hume at times had looked poor defending, but mainly that was when Mcgeady was the winger ahead of him and not being helpful that much. If you notice 09 often comes to the rescue in our LB position.

According to a few on here I was being negative and a mag because I wanted Sanderson in place of Flanagan. Haven’t had one apology since I’ve been proven right and the same with Jones as well. Luckily I’m not bothered and just happy the lads are getting the game time they deserve.

Having read Tees article again i thank god we have LJ and not that sulky twat Parkinson, and a comment at the bottom of the article by a Sunderland supporter i agree with

he was Certainly not honest regarding Mcgeady. Said he took him out the team to ensure youth players got a chance then he didn’t play any. Mcgeady also said he went to him multiple times to apologise and ask for a chance back in the team (despite doing nothing wrong) but every time Parkinson said he would consider it then never got back to him. Terrible man management of the best player not only in the squad but the league.
