Old fav Federici in the Foxhunters @ 33s. A bit to find with some of the fancied runners maybe but has performed well enough over these obstacles previously and McCain will have targeted this race no doubt. Good luck all.

Gonna have one bet tomorrow in between working (sadly):

Aintree 2.20pm Adagio 13/8 win. Ran well in the Triumph, will enjoy the ground and I think the track will really suit. I'm taking him to get the better of Monmiral and the McCain horse at the bottom who has done well to win races at Musselburgh..

    Good luck all! :emoticon-0167-beer:

Think I will have a small wager on Song For Someone in the Aintree Hurdle (15:25) regardless of his poor run at Wincanton LTO. Has a squeak if one can forget that run? 9/1 generally available at time of writing.

Absolutely swamped with Aintree info, so I will go to Deauville for a breather! :emoticon-0100-smile

    14:50 Deauville - Sky Angel

(Not well-drawn but still a leading contender in this Group 3 event.)

Good luck with your bets today guys, looking forward to Aintree very much. Always found this to be a 'horses for courses' track, so very different to Cheltenham. :emoticon-0167-beer:

    Fusil Raffles (Nap)
    Adagio
    Native River (NB)
    Silver Streak/Not So Sleepy
Not sure yet - depends on who drifts
Editeur Du Gite/The King Of May
No bet but hope the Skelton Mare backs up her good run at Cheltenham

However none of that really matters. Southwell and Taunton are on!!

So, first day of Aintree and first day I've posted in age. Also, how about this, I'm off to The Roodee right now but not for horses, it's a Covid vaccination centre, so I'm getting my jab.

I think I'll have a go with Moon over Germany in the 4.40.

    Good luck all

    Taunton 2.00 Opine

Has hinted some promise when placed 2 times last year. Good first run last time out after having a wind surgery. I think todays step up in trip, a handy mark, the combo of blinkers and tongue strap will eak out enough improvement to get his head in front today. Talented Kevin Brogan takes off valuable 5 lb and yard amongst the winners recently.

good to see you back on here.
I also agree with you about Moon over Germany. My each way bet of the day at 8/1.
Won this 2 years ago and has a claimer on board.

Todays selections for Day 1 @ Aintree

    1:45 - The Shunter
    2:20 - Adagio
    2:50 - Waiting Patiently
    3:25 - Abacadabras
    4:05 - Killaro Boy
    4:40 - Moon Over Germany & Sully D'Oc AA
    5:15 - Miss Lamb

With no crowds or pi$$ed up ladies for the Daily Fail to take snap shots of on Ladies day the entertainment will have to be on the racing, praise be...!! Some good looking races from a competitive point of view, some of them with the top 3 all of the same mark. Can't watch it as I'm at work but will be looking in to check on the results as the day pans out...

Good luck to all who are playing today...<ok> <cheers>

Let's hope they all come back safe n sound...<ok>

I think Paul Nichols will have a good day at Aintree today, however I think his best chance of a winner is at Taunton in the 3:40 with Calva d'auge 10/3.
7lb claimer has won twice in home before. Is a course winner and the step up in trip could suit.

    3.25 Aintree. Ballyandy.
This Aintree Hurdle is well below par- as most of these are handicappers at best.
On his previous and early season form, it’s just possible that Ballyandy can go very close here.
After giving 18lbs to Buzz when second to Sceau Royal, he ran another good race when facing an impossible task in trying to give 26 lbs to The Shunter.
His following efforts showed he had lost his edge but, bypassing Cheltenham and enjoying about a ten week break, he may recover his form today.
Worth a speculative punt each way at 66/1 with several bookies.

    4.40 Aintree. On The Slopes.
After winning two Class 3 handicaps a year ago , he stepped up into Class 2 last autumn and the Class 1 Grand Annual at last month’s Festival- finishing a good fourth.
All these efforts were at Cheltenham and, despite holding great chances, he faded up the hill.
Today’s Aintree venue should be more suitable and, at 9/1, he looks overpriced.
