Morning all. Bright sunshine, blue sky and only a gentle breeze this morning. Ought to be outside weeding, but somehow keep thinking about what I reckon could be a vital game for the Horns. please log in to view this image to Yorkie. Have a very good day.
Flipping cold up here today - with gale force winds and heavy snow showers. Any neighbour silly enough to be up and about at 7:00 this morning would have been entertained by the sight of me, barefoot and in pyjamas, chasing our wheelie bin down the street through the snow. Happy Anniversary Yorkie & Mrs Yorkie...
Thank you folks.. Been out walking round Harlow Carr rhs Gardens with a grandson. And ordered an Italian takeaway from our local sardinian family restaurant.. .... And at least we didn't lose!! Enjoy!
Morning all. Although the sun is blazing down from a clear blue sky it is blooming chilly out there. Rain was forecast for yesterday evening, so thinking that the long grass on the way to my fields would make a trip down there a wellie job, out came the mower after the game. Cut a swathe along the lane, then decided to do the field where I do cut and walk around. Came back have walked up and down behind the mower, cleaned it off, then sank into a chair with a glass of wine. It didn't rain. Have a good day whatever you will be doing.
Snowing outside and settling as well - can't someone tell the weather saint that it's supposed to be April
Morning all. Still on the cold side, but dry and sunny for the time being. All was quiet until the council workmen turned up with their strimmers to cut the grass verges and banks. It sounds like a swarm of hornets that have found some fallen and rotten pears. Today would have been my mothers birthday if she were still alive. Although she died a quarter of a century ago I still remember the happy days we had together. Have a good day whatever your weather.
Our weather is very white Frenchie. The one consolation is that a layer of snow will insulate some garden plants against the expected frost tonight. The flower buds have not fully opened yet on our pear trees and so they will be especially glad of this icy insulation.
Not wanting to hijack this thread, but just wanted to say how nice it is to see it dedicated to the memory of your, and my, friend Canary Dave. I just know he'd be thrilled to see the position our two clubs are in at this time.
A letter from our Mayor today to say that his appeal against his conviction for trying to mislead the commune over his involvement with wind turbines has failed, so his €3,000 fine and being barred from holding office for a three year period stands. It is a pity that lying to the voters is not dealt with in the same way in other countries. The Mayor in the next commune was voted out at the elections, so he who was involved in the same fiasco is not being forced to stand down.
The weather here is autumnal. The clocks went back at the weekend and, because Miss NZ's cricket season is over, I will be able to watch the Reading game on Saturday morning. Miss NZ started learning to surf but seems to have given it up. Cue both her parents learning instead. We have probably got about four more weeks before the sea gets too cold but we have bought a board at half price in the end of season sales so I may try to cope with the cold a little bit longer. I am now able to stand, which isn't bad for an old man. My goal is to surf and ski on the same day but that will probably have to wait until October.
You're never too old to learn NZ. About 30 years ago, when our parents paid a visit to Australia, my brother and I sat on the beach watching in amazement as our father taught himself to surf. Once he could do it to his satisfaction, after around 90 minutes, he came out of the water and said "Well that was easy - what's next?" He was 72 at the time.
Morning all. Bright blue sky with some vapour trails crossing it. Certainly not as many as in more normal times, but a few are still travelling. The deep blue clematis that winds it way through the pear tree is now in full flower, and although much of the blossom has been blown away there are still some white flowers on the tree to contrast with the climber. The clematis was given to Mme. seven years ago as a pot plant, which when it had finished flowering she planted outside with the usual remarks about it having two chances. Each year it is the first one of several to come into flower creating a message that Spring is about here. Have a good day everyone.
I loved being in the Scouts , and was proud of my mapreading skills and other things, not least being able to determine North using the sun and my watch. I spent over an hour on the rooftop garden of our Sydney hotel trying to calculate south ( or North or anywhere) using my watch and the sun, before I gave up. It's bl**ding obvious once you stop to think about it - it doesn't work unless your watch goes backwards. doh !
Amazing things happen sometimes. As I said yesterday in my morning muses, yesterday would have been my mothers birthday. Tonight I was looking at a piece of video shot in Bushey High Street in 1970. There she was giving directions to another lady. I had forgotten the hat and coat she wore when she was just pottering around shopping. Of course she had better ones for Sundays.
Morning all. Quite cloudy this morning and a strong breeze. I spent a very soothing couple of hours yesterday afternoon painting my front door as there were signs that peeling was just beginning. It was warm and sunny, just right for such a task. I had intended to put a second coat on this morning, then move on to the shutters that require a bit of repair work before the paint, but with showers forecast all day I am not so sure that it is a good idea. Maybe I will pop down to the builders merchant and buy some wood filler first, then see what the weather chooses to do. Have a good day, and three more points would go down a treat tonight.
As i child I remember not to fondly being dragged around to Clements and other stores whilst my mother tried on clothese that never fitted... oh such fun! Meanwhile the plumber is here for his sixth visit to try and sort our heating system... by today he will virtually have changed every possible part on the system... next step new boiler.....
I'm not a royalist by any stretch of the imagination - but I do feel for the Queen and her immediate family at the news of Prince Phillip's death. I wonder how long she herself will survive her grief...
