Has anyone else been offered a free £10 day pass from Racing TV? What is that all about? Surely it doesn't cost £10 per day. Binned it
I did Coko Beach in the Thyestes purely because we used to have a big black Tom Cat called Coko who was a real gentle giant. He used to catch birds but would simply hold them gently in his mouth and would release them on command unharmed. Anyway Coko Beach was most impressive that day and I had him in mind for this race after that and he looked to be improving again next time. He's a stayer with a little touch of class and he seems sure to play a part today. 14/1 each way six places seemed fair. If he finishes 7th at the two points shorter, so be it. 5.00 Fairyhouse Coko Beach 14/1 each way 6 places.
17:00 Fairyhouse - Run Wild Fred (Seems to be the second favourite at the moment at around 9/1. Timeform pick, so I'm in good company! Small bet for fun in a fascinating renewal of the Irish Grand National. Yard has a few other runners, no doubt I've picked the wrong one! ) Have a successful day punters!
It would be rude not to throw a couple of darts at the Irish National. Run Wild Fred skipped Cheltenham and can provide Sneezy Elliott with her first national win. Brace Yourself runs off a nice mark for Noel Neade at his local track and has been kept for this race in mind. Interesting that Pip Hobbs sends Jerrysback over and could sneak a place at 33s.
I dare say Denise Coates can afford to go ten places with her £469 million wage packet for last year. More than a million quid a day can't be be a bad job.
I wonder if Jared Sullivan watched that last race with Paul Nicholls? The GOAT proves it again, Stormy Ireland runs them ragged.
Boil over in the Irish National - 150/1 winner. Hopefully Robin De Carlow is OK, was jumping beautifully prior to pulling up very abruptly.
Lordy Lordy, nailed by a 150-1 shot. However, Run Wild Fred ran a terrific race, can' complain there. 150-1 winner, Mama mia!
Only had a small bet on Freewheelin Dylan. Didn't expect to get anything back. Betting ticket to follow
Freewheeling Dylan did it nicely, he had won a Midlands national before and he jumps very well, has useful from on the Spring ground, which he proved today. In hindsight you would say that the price was wrong really, more of a 33/1 to 50/1 chance I'd say, but the lay - off and not being trained by one of the more fashionable yards saw him go off a massive 150/1. I am sure some shrewd judges didn't let that 150 go without a few euro on it. My pick, Latest Exhibition ran really well, finished 4th, so not the story they were hoping for, but he came there looking to have every chance but didn't quite get home and or stay on as strongly with the top weight. He lives to fight another day.
Yes, you have to be pretty damn shrewd to back a 150-1 winner, regardless of what the price should have been?
I had messages in fairly pronto after racing with 3 winning dockets being displayed to gloat, my friends young Daughter had a whopping €2.50 win on it at 150/1, confidence personified.
