I think people just need to sit back, take a deep breath and remember that if we were sat in the pub, although you might disagree with each other, you'd probably have a much more civil conversation and move on from any differences of opinion. I also think people need to remember that this has been a ****ing tough year for pretty much everyone, and some more than others. Okay, some people might be overly negative and others overly positive. But at the end of the day we are all Saints fans and all human beings. Don't need to resort to slanging matches just because we see things differently. Lets draw a blue line under it and move on and celebrate the rare saints come back win!
Today's attacking performance was very encouraging and we looked back to our fluent best but we struggled against the big targetman and the long ball and struggled to stop crosses into our box towards the end although we should've punished Burnley on the break. It does feel like a watershed performance and I wouldn't be suprised with a strong end to the season like last year.
Got to be honest RSS, if I was sat in a pub, I’d move to another table or another pub rather than listen to the knee jerk negative reactions from some. I’m happy to discuss any points or criticisms in a pub or on a forum, but it is the constant knee jerk reactions and immediate fall to the doom and gloom, slagging players/coaches off that I find unnecessary. Usually after one bad mistake, pass, heavens above.. a goal conceded. I mentioned earlier that today I chose to put my phone elsewhere to watch the game and when prompted to check out a couple of earlier pages, I am glad I did leave my phone there. I will do that from now on as I really don’t want or need to be surrounded by that approach to life. It’s not healthy for me and I think it ruins a match thread. Won’t be my problem from now though as today was very enjoyable.
This. Although Fats’ point is also valid. It’s always the same thing when a goal is conceded, or a chance missed. And it’s always the same people, which does get tiresome.
absolutely. I just don’t want to be around people who behave like you do and contribute at no other times, other than when something has gone wrong. There are lots of people who contribute in good and bad times and in positive and negative ways. I’ll engage with them, but no longer with those like yourself, who only drop in for a moan on a match day. Fill your boots.
I didn’t think Redders was superb today. I thought he played well but a level down from our best performers today. One incident was when he couldn’t hold it up on the half way line and that lead to their penalty. It is good to see his confidence up though and contributing well (other than the excellent goal). Pleased for him.
Agree with all the above. We are all different, but I don't want to surround myself with the negativity I feel on here sometimes from knee jerk posts. Not knocking it as we all react differently, but it just isn't me. I am a firm believer in you get back from life what you put out there, and I try to put out positive thoughts even in adversity. We are in a pretty **** life at the moment, why let something that is meant to be fun take us down even more. We aren't Man City, but we aren't Pompey either. I will try not to knock others though in here that aren't so positive, as we are all different and I appreciate that. However, FFS, we came from behind and won a game of football at home - surely we can all unite on that.
He was running at people and providing forward momentum (much like Stu), which is just so great to see - (I admit I might have some positive bias towards him, as I thought the crap he's had thrown at him was completely unfair, so it's just a delight to see him do well again). I also thought JWP was more progressive than he has been today. It was Theo that worried me the most, but that might just be rustiness - I was begging for him to be subbed.
Yep, Theo had a dodgy touch and decision making today. Both he, Stuey and Redders scared opponents today with direct running. Something we’ve said has been missing for a while. Great to see it back.
You've been on this site five minutes, seemingly just to moan about Ralph. And now you want to play the nonplussed big man with some of the longer standing contributors. Really, what's the point? If you're here to be a WUM it really is time to re-evaluate some life choices.
I want to give Theo the benefit of doubt today that he was rusty. Looked lively though and that cool loop to Redmond for the winner showed his class.
I've watched their pen several times now, and KWP is definitely fouled before he takes Pieters down. Once again, a completely arbitrary VAR decision.
