How does it feel to get the "I'm talking bollocks again" badge. That and not having an answer to who you would replace the current manager you're so keen to be rid of. Not a word of praise for the team and tactics that won the game. Sadder than sad.
That was lovely. Recorded the game and managed to avoid the result until I watched it. Okay, so when we went two down I had two thoughts - first one was “we have our full team pretty much, we can get back into this”. The second was “I wonder what Not606 is like”. On the game though - great to see the team that can beat anyone back today, and really great to see Nathan carry on with his newfound confidence. Who knew he was a confidence player, except everybody that hadn’t lost the plot in lockdown? Secondly, on the ‘to be improved’ front thought that was KWPs worst defensive performance for us, and Beddy struggled against Wood’s physicality too. I also thought, and sorry for this as he did get an assist, that Theo was horrible today. His decision making, touch, finishing were grim. But then without him, we don’t get that third. Last thing - as ever, and again, as anyone who has been actually watching the games will have noticed, Ralph does make mistakes, but he learns. People have been bemoaning our inability to close out games, so he brought on Salisu to shore things up. Now it nearly backfired, which would have been horrendous, as the moaners would somehow have made it his fault for bringing on a defender “when we are on top” or something. But it didn’t. We won. We could and should have won by more. Welcome back, Saints.
Did you get any joy from the result today or are your posts aimed at getting a response to give you some perverse pleasure? Get the help you need.
Oh gawd, is this going to end up as a pre match Thing that I have to do just like your dishwasher derangement? Vin
Yep next Sunday you have to post the same. I have to like it, ridicule it and then get a few likes. If that works, rinse and repeat for the cup
Yep, an utterly **** result turned in to a great one. What's not to like? I need help? I'm not the one trying to pick a fight with strangers on the Internet
On the subject of negative vs positive, my dad is one of the most optimistic, upbeat people you’ll ever meet. He is genuinely grateful for all the good things in his life, and I’ve never heard him complain about any of the hardships or misfortunes everyone has to suffer sometimes; But none of this applies to football. We could be 3-1 up and cruising (remember when that happened a lot?), and he’s absolutely never confident. Every time we score it’s too soon, every time the opposition get in our half it’s looking ominous, and if the ball gets cleared by our defence, even with the greatest of ease and comfort, it’s a let off. So yeah, some people do reserve all their negativity for football.
If we win the cup I'll personally deliver Ralph a giant Millies cookie with "SORRY FOR BEING A NEGATIVE NANCY" written in pink icing, a helium Pluto balloon, as well as getting his face tattooed on my chest as penance
Having slept on it. Burnley were a solid defensive unit who were awful going forward. It was like watching archive footage of the blitz. That VAR review that didn’t show initial contact on KWP was a crime and burnley got a gift with that pen. We had our attacking performance of the season but the final score line was not great. There were 3 situations that we absolutely should have been scoring but awful finishing and decision making robbed us. Not counting the 3 that Pope saved brilliantly. We were playing burnley off the pitch til, the final 10. Mentally that was fantastic. So tough to come back from 2 behind. Superb performances from JWP and Armstrong, ings and Forster I thought.
I've got mate along those lines! Quite often I make sure he's playing golf with me immediately before or after a match just to top up the positive stuff he has forgotten about when Saints are playing! I have to admit that couldn't work between January and now because we couldn't play, so walks in the Forest etc quickly arranged and happy to say he's not this year fully succumbed to the black mood.
