Reading the headines and between the lines on some of his comments in the 2 articles linked below it's getting a bit worrying, Nige sounds like he could be thinking short termism,

Lansdown and Ashton had better get their act together and give him a long term contract otherwise the man will be gone, there are plenty of opportunities out there for him and don't kid yourselves, people must already be tapping him up.

We are absolute rubbish at the moment, we all need resolution.

Think Pearson needs to be named manager before people will purchase ST tickets.

Then he can cull this **** squad and rebuild.
70% can leave as far as I’m concerned.

This club has a soft underbelly that has been here for decades.
NP has been here 5 minutes and can see it.
Give him a three year contract and let him sort the mess out without interference from Ashton.

Our apathetic approach to the things that count most over many years has led us to what I believe could be a critical time in the future of Bristol City. Currently we have the most experienced manager to grace the halls of Ashton Gate and the bad results are not down to him but rather the players he inherited, most of which would never be on my list of must have assets. Very few of our squad are actually putting in a shift that warrants their salaries and most of them are just putting in time rather than effort and all of the latter should be sent packing in the next couple of months.

The scariest thing in my current mindset is that if Nigel Pearson should decide not to stay, and that is always a possibility, then I fear for next season because right now we have a team that doesn't seem capable of caring about who manages them because they aren't up to the quality needed to stay in the Championship. Next season could see us drop back in to League One with this lot still on the books and the die might be cast in the wrong mould to meet the success that Steve Lansdown and all of us want to enjoy. The failings of the past in managerial appointments and recruited players incapable of meeting the required standards while getting paid way over the odds have been brought up on not606 so many times you would think that perhaps there might be people actually listening.

The next 4-5 months will be critical in our future and unless some right decisions are made we could return to the status quo of the last 10 years which as we all know so well has got us absolutely bloody nowhere. Let's change all of that and put our less than meteoric past exactly where it belongs and make the moves that could change the way we do the business.

Mike you could be very right regards Div One next season with this rabble.
SL has a big decision employ NP and cull the rabble and rebuild or sink.

Funny that.. apart from our first season under SC we’ve not been in danger to dropping out of this league since being in it!!

I tell you one thing Bentley kept us in the championship this season.Without him we would have been relegated.

Even he’s gone off the boil recently and made several mistakes, he still worries me at crosses.

NP has now been here since 22nd Feb....by now should know the structure of the squad, setup of the club, also would have seen and been involved with the younger players we have.
SL now needs to make his mind up, if he's the man for the job and if so, offer him the contract and backing.....
NP has more or less said that the players on the pitch are not living up to expectations or are lacking in certain departments......
The season has fizzled out for us with nothing really to play for IMO........time to be brave and change it about, bring in the youngsters...we have several competitive games left, which will give good time to see exactly what's required for next season.......
Nige................it's time to be THAT manager...........IMO.

It's time to bench the regular no-shows onefor and let the others have a shot (no pun intended) because the current top paid players aren't worth five bob between them. Start packing the bags some of you as we don't want you here next season and as for the rest they had better show more commitment to our shirt because, quite frankly, you have only offered it shame. The truth needs to be told and I have no doubt that Pearson will never shy away from that responsibility which makes me wonder if he will stick around the pick up the pieces? I truly hope he does stay as he could be our last hope at redemption from the mistakes of the past and without his participation it has the possibility of becoming dire.

I ve given up on commenting on where we are and how we got here.. almost finished writing my book … rough copy start to finish so now need to cross t's dot i's, it is a book on facts and alternatives … not related to football

However SC managed to get us promoted back to championship and SL ET AL came up with a 5 year plan and quickly another 5 year plan.. it encompassed not relying on journeymen at end of or to many loan players. It was buy young and develop into players to play the way we wanted. To sell the odd player to get us back to + FFP reinvest to improve the quality of the squad and utilise money saving by promoting more from the academy.
After 1 year + of LJ'S contract he was to the dismay of the "non appreciative LJ fan club" given a new contract. And the club prospered finished tophalf and got back into profit... at a cost …
Covid was not good for anyone.. club or person!
It was part of the 5 year plan that the loss of any one individual would not upset the applecart as a smooth transition was built in! SO ...DH replaced LJ at a time the fixtures eased to lesser teams and got the job. [ bear in mind the plan was to have smooth transitions and squad players had been trained in the way the club wanted them to play! ] bring on the injury list....
A squad in depth was the aim … a missing player, shouldn't cause to much of a ripple~~~~~~ ! but the replacement is injured bring on the third choice ~~~~~~ then another position is affected and third choice was second choice for that so fourth choice fills the gap left by the original player injured ~~~~~~ now there is problems on the horizon!

continued.. I clicked something and it scored through!
how many first choice match squad got injured... a lot … we had a routine went haywire with injuries .. DH replaced [ like it or lump it ] and the 2 coach's took over won first game against most opinions on here … NP in stand having got the job on Monday morning and travelled to MIDDSBRO to meet the team, a few days later beat Swansea also, NP had 2 days at most with team
. and coach's were active on touchline most of it, 2nd win [ against the odds! ] …. then first game "in sole charge" lost playing 4-1-4-1 ...………..to AFC Bournemouth!!!!
2 things have happened [ not denying NP is good, and will do good ] but having spent a few years getting [ academy/ newbies ] to play in a certain way, has his "way" upset the status quo / applecart? and we are doing what a lot on here said we hoped wouldn't happen .. change the manager and have to start from GO-> again!

Indeed because SL and Ashton took far too long to decide and then made the wrong but predictable appointment. And history is on course for them to repeat that f*** up.

Pearson is 100% correct the summer will be too late, far too late and to me that just amplifies the lack of ambition that SL and Ashton claim that they have, but as I have already said season ticket sales will already be going down due to the financial affects of covid and many more like myself will hold on until their is clarity, I caught out like that last season and in the words of the Who 'I won't get fooled again'.

Wasn't that the time when most of you got excited with comments of how better Deano's player selection and formations was compared to LJ's?? oh and how we needed that change and now we are able to move on..........that was until the first few defeats and then the tide changed.

I agree the summer is far too late for Pearson or who ever is appointed, it should all be sorted now........one way or the other.
Competitive games still around and then the summer to have a full impact to the season ahead...perfect opportunity IMO.
I don't actually think that season tickets for the coming season will make much difference in the scheme of things..

The first paragraph is probably true but comes back to history of supporting BCFC, under the banner of more in hope than expectation.

Under SL and Ashton there is a culture of blaming everybody but themselves, this is their mess, not the fans, 100% their mess.

There is something rancid running throughout the club and the way that it is run and especially from flow of information, for instance:-
It took months to get any information about Williams injury and that came from the player himself and the club virtually said NOTHING.
Ashton gives a sky interview claiming that the club was very close to making a signing, Holden when asked less than hour later knew nothing about this and of course no signing was forthcoming.
Simpson when asked about the fact that Williams had had a scan and an operation, Simpson replied "that's news to me".
And now 2 or 3 more hamstring injuries later, no indication as to why this is happening on such a regular basis and why a player has been forced dealing with his injury himself?
Pearson was left unaware that SL was going to do an online interview that night.

It's fecking amateur hour and it's getting worse, Ashton needs replacing with a football man, to properly advise SL about how to run the football side of the club, because even after all these years he hasn't got a clue about the football side, stumbling from one mistake to the next.

As for your comment about season tickets, we will have to see about that because 16,000 season tickets sales were not built up easily, the potential loss of lets say 4 to 6 thousand, will take ages to build back up and the way the footballing side of the business is heading, it will continue to plummet.

I have to repeat this is SL's and Ashtons mess, full stop.

As I said on another post, for me, the buck for all of this stops firmly with Lansdown. Much though I dislike Ashton and the amount of power he seems to wield, it's not him at the top of the tree and unless Lansdown is blind or stupid he must get a vibe for all the negative feedback from supporters.
I've been saying for years that the club act as if they don't have a single professional person working for them on or off the pitch. Yet we have all of these 40 plus wonderful job titles on the non playing side like Communications and PR Manager. So these particular people are either totally bypassed with what is going on, or they are not up to scratch in managing the media along with the clubs ever declining image and reputation.
In some respects, the players and pundits who over the years have seen us as a bit of a backwater in terms of footballing heritage, would be rubbing their hands if they found out just how badly the club has been run for donkeys years.

What you are all missing is Ashton was employed by SL to run the Bristol Sport Empire for him-hence his £500k salary.

What your all missing is ML is doing exactly what SL tells him to do.

So in my book the issues are with SL and the way he runs this football club from afar.

SL has spent a fortune on infrastructure and will never lose his funds in this-but from a player point of view apart from a few exceptions the players who have arrived have been average to poor.

I agree but I think it's a little more subtle than that, Ashton was rehired after SL's run in with Cotterill, I think the experience got to SL who gave Ashton pretty much the green light to run the day to day business and only bother him with big or financial issues, but the structure shows that little JL is treated pretty much like Albrecht in the Michael Caine/Steve Martin film dirty rotten scoundrels.
