I got us a massive smoked haddock fillet, poached it in milk, with a poached egg on top, with mash and peas. Love Chippy Fish n Chips but can't be arsed with the queuing!
Actually, I could if I wanted but prefer the wine. For a while we were able to get an alcohol version of D&B but it didn't sell so it was discontinued from the stores inventory.
Well here it is or was. Pan fried halibut with oven fried truffle potatoes, peas and carrots. Complete with the aforementioned Sauvignon Blanc. The fish portion looks small but I think that's the photo perspective but it was brilliant. As for the wine, Whitehaven ... isn't that somewhere in Cumbria and didn't they have a rugby club? Regardless, it was a brilliant meal and a change from "standard fish & chips."
Why the **** would you get your fish and chips from national chain Papas with 190-odd in the queue in front of you? Probably all overweight lazy RL/Top6 PL ****ers who will not back their local chippy, of which there are several dozen very good ones all over this city. Laughable but also depressing.we have so many spineless know nowts locally.
Choice???? I personally had it from a local one but each to their own... I quite like Papas, it’s virtually on my ****ing door step !!! Fish spesh....Boom !!
In the seventies and eighties, I went to Russia quite a few times. I asked the guy who was with me, probably a KGB member, why there were such long queues outside all their shops. Having walked past them, they were more or less empty of stock. I was told that it is because the Russian people are individually so rich, they can afford to buy everything the shop stocks. When you come to England as he had, all your shops are full because you people don't have enough money to buy anything. That was the line told to all Russian people and they believed it.
To each their own. You may dislike carrots and prefer the limp, white soggy chips served in most UK chip shops but I don't. I thought about suggesting that you **** off but I'm too polite.
