    Depends where you go. Usually about £1 a pint. My mate & I once got plastered in a shopping mall cafeteria area in Skopje, the capital. We'd just walked 6 miles in 35 degree heat, so a drink there was a perfectly reasonable thing to do. The reason it turned into a session was that the (big) cans were 50p! It would have been wrong not to. Taxi home required, but at £2 to go from one end to the city to the other, we didn't mind paying.

    Before we go to Skopje for a few days, we usually spend a month in Ohrid, which is effectively their riviera, given that they're land locked. The lake & surrounding area is a UNESCO World Heritage site on 2 counts (don't ask, no idea!). 1 bed apartment is €30 a night with all mod cons. A main course in the posh lakeside hotels is about £2.50 each. Now you know why I go there every year.

    And just for Wakey, the girls there are stunning. Not sure if that's universal, or if it's just because it's only the pretty ones that are drawn to me. :D

    Oddly enough, my first landlord is a big shot in the Balkans Tourist Board! :D

    I only gave a few prices. The best thing about Macedonia I never mentioned - the people! It also helps that almost everyone under 50 speaks better english than us! :)

    Discovered it travelling with the Tartan Army. Georgia is similar, but too far away. Really looking forward for us away to Moldova. Supposed to be the poorest country in Europe, which bodes well.
