Personally, I love Newcastle. That being said, I come from a small town (York) and having moved up, I definitely prefer it. Its such a vibrant, fun and beautiful city. York only ticks one of those boxes and the only reason I ever go back is for friends and family. The people are rude, it's overpriced, and it is as dull as dishwater to have grown up in.
I like the Ouseburn area for a night out. A couple of pints in the Free Trade and the Tyne Bar followed by a live band at The Cluny. What's not to like?

It appears to be a decent place and size, with much going for it. But does it meet the Captains demanding criteria for being better than piss-pot Newcaatle.
